Delhi is polluted as hell

Mughul attitude to India. It could be argued is similar to every foreign invaders dislike of bizzarely "exotic" Hindusim, vulgar practices and lack of basic sanitation in teeming filthy India, it was ethched as a reflection of Babur's intense dislike of India. The most commonly quoted passage from the Baburnama makes his distaste evident: “Hindustan is a place of little charm but many a awful overbearing stench"
Indian History is famous for two things:
1) Islamic Invasion and occupation
2) British Invasion and occupation

As you can see, nobody knows or cares about their Golden Vedas Era.

Pashtos, Persian, Uzbek Invaders are more famous than their coward hindu kings.

No I meant the impressions from Babur’s time
Tuzk e Babri has been translated into over 70 languages, orginally it was in Persian, but now there are translations in English and maybe Mandarin. Look up BABURNAMA.

Lahore was declared most polluted city this year as well. Our collective activities are making our own life miserable and you cannot blame one party and absolve the other as everyone is contributing towards this pollution.

Industrial waste is being thrown unchecked into the water bodies. Exhaust from chimneys is unregulated, processes in plants are wasting energy adding more to entropy, transition to biodegradable alternatives is still a pipe dream, reliance on petro fuel is not going anywhere soon and then we have obsolete methods to get rid of waste.

Sooner than later, everyone is going to get effected from these habits.

Somebody sent me a link to an article about a doctor in Canada making the world's first prognosis of a woman as being affected by climate change. The woman had asthma and heart disease and IIRC she is aged as well but to this situation the climactic situation in Canada ( heat wave, smog etc ) added to her ill health.

You are right. The change for the positive should be at system level which in turn will cascade into many changes at micro levels. It can't be the other way around. For example, the three most polluter countries in the world are India, China and USA. Just one simple thing - of banning privately-owned personal transport cars and two-wheelers - just in these three countries will have an affect on drastically reducing direct and secondary pollution in the world. My recent thread on this. I also speak there of an upcoming, revolutionary mode of air transport.

Babur and most Mughuls originated from Ferghana valley. I have visited his birthplace. Ferghana has a interesting history, but throughout, the valley existed as one political entity. In the ancient era, it was a part of Transoxiana, a province of the Persian Empire, where it played an important role in the Silk Road trade from China to the Middle East and Europe.

Babur's birthplace, Ferghana, is a 30,000 sq km valley located around the tri-junction of Uzbekistan, Kyrgystan and Tajikistan. It is surrounded by the Tien Shan mountains in the north and the Pamirs in the south. The fabled Silk Route runs through it. It was key trading outpost of the Persian Empire.

That region is fabled in Chinese history for producing the most majestic and fastest horses.

Google is the usual revisionist western version of history. I have more trust in our own people's version. Most of the steppes were under Scythian Persian control and only now a few western writers like Pepe Escobar have highlighted that part of real history. The British being racist imperialists tried to wipe out all traces of Mughuls and have cast a very poor light on Bahadur Shah (the last Mughul) whom they deceived and later incarcerated.

People with Asthma get very sick in Lahore during the month of October and November and doctors continue to warn people to either move away or take more precautions. You are right that we are just starting to understand the effect of pollution on human lives.

While principally i agree with that on private ownership of cars, the fact remains that industries contribute more towards the pollution than the common population. We have NEQS (National Effluent Quality standards) in place but industries seldom comply to these standards and get a waiver by paying money to auditors.

I left home very young and had an interest in the world. My father was a diplomat and an academic and even as a child I accompanied him on various visits. I was lucky enough to see China during Mao's last days and then after the quick transformation in the 80's. Being an engineer with pretty good qualifications and experience I have been to work in several countries ranging from US to NZ. I wrote one of my post graduate thesis on China's manufacturing rise in the 90's and fortunately it became true. My personal belief is that travel and learning languages is the best form of humanity and also education. Not to brag, but I have seen over 100 countries.
