Scientific reason existed since the dawn of human civilisation. The pyramids of Egypt are an engineering marvel. They are so complex in their design that some europeans till today foolishly believe aliens build them. Such architecture cannot be perfected without a proper scientific temper.

Ancient civilisations like Mesopotamia, Iran, India, Egypt etc. were much more progressive in their approach than the Europeans of that era. The european renaissance was fuelled by research already conducted by "oriental" civilisations. The Fibonacci series of numerals for example was discovered by an India but a european gets the credit for the same.

In very simplistic terms science is nothing but human curiosity. Curiosity to know how and why nature works the way it does. That curiosity has been present in mankind since the discovered fire.

In very crude terms the invention of plough, agricultural tools will also demand scientific knowledge. You need to know what kind of tools you need to improve your standard of living and how to acquire those tools - that is simple science.

Islamic science came to an abrupt end as soon as Genghis Khan destroyed Khiva(Khwarezm). Majority of muslim scientists hailed from there or modern day north Afghanistan(formerly called Balkh). Persians were also smart, but they also got embroiled in wars and massacres. Arab world also fell to Fitna and khwarijism soon after the destruction of Abbassid empire, whose caliphs generously funded research.

This thread was started by the OP to specifically talk about the reason(s) for the decline of Science in the Islamic world and as such there was no need whatsoever to drag in the India and its scientific achievements. However, tendency (or itch) of dragging in India and its supposedly glory in just about every damn thread has reached to a pathological level. Can we discuss about anything without the annoying posts about India and its glories? Is this a must that every freakin thread be infested with India and every thing about India?

You talk about infrastructure in Pakistan and someone is posting the pictures of Indian cities; you talk about Pakistani railway station and out of the blue moon a photo of some Indian railway station is thrown in; you are discussing Pakistani performing art and links to India Dramas and films are chipped in; you talk about JF-17 and there appears Tejas from nowhere; you talk about submarine acquisitions for PN and IN's nuclear sub will sneak in. What the hell is this? I know what it is, it is nothing but immense inferiority complex of Indians that itches them badly to jump in invited or uninvited into just about every thread.

Just 20 years ago Pakistan's GDP was better than that of India, until today people don't die of hunger on the Pakistani roadsides, something that is more than uncommon in India. Worlds largest slum is also found in India, most female infanticides also take place in India, India is also called home by one of the largest AIDS patients population, most dowry -related deaths of brides are also recored in India, and so on and so forth. Indians are developing, good for them, but there is no need to trumpet about it unnecessarily.

I'll request the management to take note of this extremely annoying practice for I believe this forum is not yet bought out by some Indian entrepreneur, and if it is, please let us know so we take a hike and go to a place that is less infested.

There is no homogenous "Muslim/Islamic people" and what Islam tries to appropriate as it own is actually the legacy and heritage of the people who happen to have been following Islam at the time and/or since.

there have been many irani scientists since islam, why not before?? it is because islam removed social and cultural restrictions and allowed people to pursue their natural inclinations towards technological development or scientific bent of mind.
