Of late there appear to be a number of old threads being "necroed"
Perhaps after a few months with no replies a thread could be locked, so it is still available for historical reference but can no longer be added to.
I do realise if thereis no way to automate the closure it wouldbe a problem for admin/mods but i am tired of seeing an interesting topic only to realise that it is a two year old post with a one liner reply added to the end.

exactly, two of my threads became active all of a sudden and those were probably the most stupid threads i had ever opened

If i was a mod i would have deleted both thread hehehe - there must be a way to close older threads. If similar issues arises, we always have an option to re-open or create a new thread

Users who are bumping these threads. Please PM me their usernames.

Hey! But don't close down "Missile Strikes in FATA" in Pakistan's War just because the strikes are intermittent. I like to add any new strikes to the thread for the historical record. Sometimes I have to go a few pages of threads back because the last strike was weeks ago. Like right now. Hasn't been a strike for two weeks. Bumping an "old" thread like that shouldn't be prohibited.

oh definitely such threads are always exempted, don't worry TruthSeeker and i would advise you to save that link in your favourites so in future you don't have to find after browsing several pages, or the second option is use the search feature ;)

If its interesting then why do you want it to lock it?

Is this fourm for current affairs only?

If somebody does a search finds an interesting thread and wants to post (in a non-flaming intent) then what is the problem.

Doesn't make any sense to me why this is of an issue. :disagree:

Closing threads is not the solution. As the matter under discussion might become active as a result of new d evelopment.

However those members that reactivate them they should be checked. If what they have posted is related to the thread then it is fine else if it seems that the thread has been reactivated with a sinister design than the member should be reported.

Thanks, Zaki,
But I don't know how to use all those newfangled "options" like you young whippersnappers use. Oh well .....

(Just kidding, I do use the search function if I don't see MS in FATA right away.)

sometimes people search for something specific on the search engline and find one of our old threads, he likes it and join the forum and reply to that thread. i dont see what is wrong with it.
