If the tiff between the US and Pakistan is not resolved the US may face the consequences in Afghanistan. Failure in the Hindu Kush will certainly impact the presidential elections in 2012.

i will jsut say one thing if done by ISI then USA need to learn lessons from it and accept that ISI is stronger then US CIA working in Pakistan and Afghanistan....

The dtory is so much conjecture and so little fact. Fact the davis was caught having murdered 2 goons/spies/innocent men/not so innocent men. The rest is all a flight of fancy and purely conjecture with an attempt to establish a motivated and ridiculous setting. Look at it this way, the story claims that davis is singing like a canary while the videos leaked from the interrogation say something rlse. Just to imagine that the american knowing fully well that the artillery will follow in rescuing him, will never divulge such secrets as claimed by the story. And what gives it away is the claim that it will be brought on an appropriate time in front of the US president, that is all and bull. What the writer or the psuedonym under which one is writing does not understand is that nothing is done without the knowledge of the US administrationn.. It is purely fodder for the pakistani ears from the pakistani army. This story is clearly a plant with no basis. And the funny part is that it claims that the savis event will have an implication on the 2012 US elections but does not to an iota's extent mention about what will be pakistan's fate if the pakistani army continues to troll down the currently chosen path. Following recent revelation by the 68-year old noted US media outlet ABC News that the arrested US official Raymond Davis runs a Florida-based security company Messrs Hyperion Protective Consultants, a research conducted by The News reveals that a man called Gerald Richardson had founded this firm in 1999.

Richardson had established this entity after growing demands from prospective clients seeking better risk management techniques for their businesses.ABC News, a subsidiary of the globally renowned Walt Disney Company, has further claimed that Hyperion Protective Consultants works for the CIA and provides “loss and risk management professionals” to private businesses.

The Huffington Post, a popular American news website with over one million comments posted on it each month, has noted that this firm (Hyperion Protective Consultants) was sounding like a classic CIA cut-out.

Although various other media houses in the US have described Raymond Davis as a security contractor working for this firm under discussion, and have not acknowledged him as being the owner, there is no confusion about the work place of the double-murderer.

The firm even sells hardware to secure the business/private facilities and deals in emergency lighting and fire extinguishers too.

It secures the data of companies against cyber crimes by making their networks foolproof and screens potential employees for businesses by checking their local and federal records before hiring.

The private security companies, including the infamous Blackwater, that have been hired by the US State Department in recent times—have had a tough time at the hands of the US legislators.

In September 2010, in a historic 409-0 vote, the US Congress had passed a legislation authored by Representative Peter Welch to crackdown on illegal activities committed by government contractors.

The vote had come just hours before the three-year anniversary of a deadly shootout in Baghdad had left 17 civilians dead. The shootout was provoked by Messrs Blackwater, a major military contractor, that later changed its name to Messrs Xe on February 13, 2009.

Earlier in October 2007, Blackwater USA was renamed Blackwater Worldwide. Representative Welch’s legislation, called the Overseas Contractor Reform Act (HR 5366), was aimed at banning companies and individuals convicted of bribing foreign officials from contracting with the federal government.

Welch had floated this bill in response to allegations that Blackwater had attempted to bribe Iraqi officials following the 2007 Baghdad shooting. “Contractors that bribe foreign governments have absolutely no business profiting off the American taxpayer,” Welch said in a statement.

The Congressman added, “Those who violate the rule of law undermine not only our nation’s mission and values, but also the safety of our troops. This law puts contractors like Blackwater on notice that bribery and corruption simply will not be tolerated.”

Welch had first proposed cracking down on bribery committed by government contractors in November 2009, following a New York Times report alleging Blackwater of offering payments of $1 million to Iraqi officials to bar them from revoking the company’s license to operate in the country after the firm’s staffers had opened fire on civilians in Baghdad’s Nisour Square.

It was revealed in August 2010 that Messrs Xe has created dozens of front companies to secure government contracts.

Research has revealed that during the Iraq war in 2007, Blackwater’s Senior Managers were charging $1,075 a day, while the US Army General David Petraeus (the then top American Commander in Baghdad overseeing more than 160,000 troops) was drawing only $493 per day, which was less than half the fee charged by the Blackwater senior personnel managing only a 34-man security team each.

According to a US Congressional Report, Blackwater had charged the American government $1,222 per day or $445,000 every year per guard during the Iraq War, which was six times more than the cost of an equivalent US soldier’s annual salary of $74,000.

The $445,000 figure for contractors, however, did not include benefits, perks or bonuses to be awarded to private security personnel upon completion of service.

These security men, who were required to work for just 275 days a year, were also not entitled to any medical benefits since they were not Federal Employees.

Blackwater’s history shows that it was founded in 1997 on a 6,000- acre facility in North Carolina State by Erik Dean Prince, who was born in 1969. Prince was also an intern in the White House under President George Bush, besides having briefly served the US Navy.

On March 2, 2009, the Michigan-born Prince had announced that he was stepping down as CEO of Messrs Xe. Currently living in Abu Dhabi, Prince had put Xe up for sale in June 2010.

The company was purchased in December 2010 by USTC Holdings, an investment group.

A look at Blackwater’s business turnover shows that since 1997, this firm has won more than $1.6 billion federal contracts. It eventually became the largest of the State Department’s three private security companies, providing 987 guards for US embassies and bases abroad. Of the 987 contractors, which Xe provided, 744 were US citizens.

Since 2001, the CIA has awarded up to $600 million contracts to this firm and its affiliates. Even the Obama administration had awarded this company a $120 million Department of State security contract and about $100 million in new CIA work in 2010.

Till date, over 30 of Blackwater men have been killed worldwide while serving US interests. In January 2011, the Associated Press had reported that the Blackwater founder Prince had taken on a new role of training a force of 2000 Somalis for anti-piracy operations in the Gulf of Arden. The programme is reportedly funded by Arab countries. However, Prince’s spokesman said his boss had no financial role in the project.

The Associated Press, quoting an official of Maritime Underwater Security Consultants, had maintained: “There are 34 nations with naval assets trying to stop piracy and it can only be stopped on land. With Prince’s background and rather illustrious reputation, I think it’s quite possible that it might work.”

For the sake of drawing some comparison with the recent Lahore shoot-out by Raymond Davis, a quick look at the illegal activities of Blackwater in Iraq shows that in February 2005, four of this company’s guards escorting a US State Department convoy had fired 70 rounds into an Iraqi’s car under the pretext that they felt threatened and pulled the triggers in self-defence.

An investigation by the State Department concluded that the shooting was not justified and that the Blackwater employees had provided false statements to investigators.

In December 2006, a security guard of the then Iraqi Vice President was shot and killed while on duty outside the Iraqi prime minister’s compound. The Iraqi government had then accused Andrew Moonen, an employee of Blackwater of murdering the guard.

Moonen, who was found guilty of being drunk at the time of shooting, was subsequently fired by Blackwater for violating the company’s alcohol and firearm policy, but attempts were made to keep the sacked staffer’s identity secret.

Interestingly, the ousted employee Moonen had still managed to find job at Messrs Combat Support Associates, a Kuwait-based US Defense Department contractor.

On April 1, 2009, The Washington Post had reported that another company called Messrs Triple Canopy would replace Xe/Blackwater as the State Department’s new security contractor in Iraq and a $977 million contract was subsequently awarded to this firm in March 2009.

Is there any indication that other foreign countries, apart from the USA, are also sending agents like Davis to undertake special operations inside Pakistan? I am sure that many must deploy intelligence officers to gather information, but are the Americans the only ones who are willing to undertake special operations this way? And why are they so careless about their security? Do they believe they are protected by the Pakistan government or ISI while they pursue their aims? Undoubtedly this is the biggest scandal in US Foreign relations since the US was shot down by the Soviets in the sixties. Then, as now, both sides played out the drama in an iterative manner-neither side letting the other know how much they know.

'Davis' is the missing link to US support for 'TTP' terror in Pakistan​

There are clear indications that there is much more to the "Raymond Davis" affair than the Pakistanis are letting on. THis isn't about murder and diplomatic immunity. This is mush bigger. Something is very wrong with this picture, and Islamabad is tight lipped because it now has concrete evidence that Mr "Raymond Davis" is linked with the Tehrik e Taliban e Pakistan (TTP) and some of the terror activities that have been happening in Pakistan. The Pakistanis are not stupid. Americans stick out like sore thumbs in Pakistan. When they go running around in their black SUVs laced with Satellite equipment they are tracked, traced and followed. In a cat and mouse game, the contractors can sometimes shake their "tails". On other occasions they cannot. In fact the ISI gives them enough rope to hang themselves with. In this case, it seems Mr. Davis fell into a trap and his situation is now fully compromised. In panic Mr. "Davis" used the Nuclear option and killed the two Pakistanis who were trailing him-knowing full well that killing Pakistani spies or those who knew his identity would blow up in this face. He doesn't have to say much-the equipment he carried tells a long and bloody story. All this is irrefutable evidence in a Pakistani court of law. The Pakistanis have already released the pictures of the equipment and the evidence that they have gathered. Of course they are still holding on to the juiciest details.

The US has postponed the Afghan-Pakistan-US Trilateral meeting, dropped hints about postponing the date of Mr. Zardari's visit to the US, and floated all sorts of other threats. Normally Islamabad would have been cognizant of the the problems of spoiling its relationship with the sole Superpower. However the smirking Pakistanis are so confident in the validity of their cause, that they are letting the US escalate the issue.

Pakistan has ignored some of the US pressure and has not buckled under intense US pressure. Both General Kayani and Former Foreign Minister Mahmood Qureshi were not very impressed by US posturing. In fact right after their threatening phone calls and messages Islamabad formally charged Davis with pre-meditated murder in the Lahore High Court. The Court promptly remanded Mr. "Davis" to prison for another 14 days of interrogation. There were stories that if Mr. "Davis" does not cooperate, the interrogation would have been upgraded to level 3 (a euphemism for torture). There are reports that despite admonitions from the US Embassy, Mr. Davis is singing like a bird, and has already given enough information to the Pakistanis to get him convicted in any court of law.

The Former Foreign Minister Qureshi publicly confirmed that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton pressured him to "publicly confirm diplomatic immunity of Davis. However, I refused to do so because it was against the factual position in the case." FM Qureshi's confirmation that Mr "Davis" is not a diplomat was repeatedly discussed on all 80 TV channels with copies of his passports and visas prominently displayed for the audience. Mr. Quresh said that
"The kind of blanket immunity Washington is pressing for Davis is not endorsed by the official record of the Foreign Ministry," adding that Washington even "threatened that Hillary Clinton would not meet me at the Munich conference on February 6 if the request was not granted."

The situation is so polarized that even traditional US allies in Pakistan have condemned the intrusive murders. Mr. Pervez Hoodbhoy who almost never criticizes the US has condemned the "Davis" affair. The PMLN is of course threatened the PPP with a vote of no-confidence.

It is clear that Mr. "Davis" shot the Pakistani operatives knowing full well who they were. The Pakistani authorities have informed the the media that they are very well aware that Mr. Davis was in touch with the "Pakistani Taliban" (TTP). There is conjecture that Mr. "Davis" walked into a trap laid out by the ISI. In fact his contacts were actually ISI agents. All that he said and did is in the hands of the Pakistanis. Mr. "Davis" thought that by shooting the two operatives, he would eliminate the evidence against him. In fact, it made matters worse. Other operatives who were in the vicinity had already taken the necessary precautions. The ISI has leaked information to the media that Mr. "Davis" had crossed a "red line".

Clearly, the Americans have panicked because the know that the Pakistani side knows much more than it is prepared to admit in public. This is typical behavior when spies are caught with their thumbs up their noses. There are clear indications that Mr. "Davis" has broken down after sustained interrogation in police custody, and has spilled his guts-making the Pakistanis aware of explosive stuff. Its not that this stuff has surprised the Pakistanis. When you have 3000 of these guys running around the country-something gives. The ISI is one of the world's most powerful spy organizations in the world. It has deep roots in Pakistan and Afghanistan. Nothing that crawls or walks in Pakistan is hidden from the ISI and other agencies. On top of this there is a million man Pakistani army. 180 million Pakistanis are also watching the Americans and reporting on them. The panicked Americans have continually given highly contradictory versions about Mr. "Davis's" identity and the nature of his assignment in Pakistan.

It is very clear that Mr. "Davis's" discovery and detention has sent alarm bells ringing all the way to President Obama's White House. In a way the Pakistanis are amused. They know they have the Americans where they want them-right up against the wall. The Americans are fully aware that the "Davis" case is shaking the very foundations of the transactional relationship with Pakistan. While the CIA, the State Department and the White House think that this is a new discovery-the Pakistanis point to a long trail of evidence that directly points to the US consultants and their hirelings in Afghanistan and Pakistan. The ISI and the Army believe that at the right time, the details of what the Pakistanis know will be revealed to President Obama and the world.

Pakistan and Pakistanis have known for a long time who is behind the TTP (Tehrik e Taliban e Pakistani). Its not that hard to guess. What surprised the Pakistanis was their ability to inflict bloody attacks on the Pakistani military in order to destabilize Pakistani. Mr. Davis is not an isolated incident-there is a history behind much of what is happening in Pakistan-most of which can be correlated to the rise of the US "consultants" and "contractors" in Pakistan. It is pedagogical to note that last year when the ISI put in requests for deep security checks on those coming into Pakistan-the US put up a hissy fit and forced about 500 of these "Davis types" through without any background checks. Is is noted that the ISI became very suspicious of the insistence of the US in getting these guys into Pakistan at short notice. These guys got very special attention-and that has paid off in the arrest and detention of Mr. Davis. This points to the fact that this incident was not just an accident-it was an incident waiting to happen. The ISI was ready to pounce on the situation once it happened.

Pakistan has been very suspicious of these "contractors" especially when Pakistani state institutions were attacked. The attacks on the the Army HQ, and the ISI sent alarm bells among the rank and file of the Pakistani government. The vibrant Pakistani press has also been on the trail and has repeatedly pointed out the facts about the former Afghan intelligence chief Amrullah Saleh (who was eventually fired by Mr. Karzai). However the US security establishment was in cahoots with him.

The Pakistani military and its highly efficient intelligence set-up had concluded a very long time ago that the TTP was being aided by the very sort of free-wheeling "contractors" that Mr. Davis represents. It was just a matter of time when things came to a boil. It is amazing that the Americans are surprised they have finally be caught red-handed. This has happened in the past, but during the reign of President Musharraf, the Americans got away with it and escaped. This time Mr. "Davis" was caught with his hands in the cookie jar.

Over 100,000 American troops in Afghanistan facing the new Taliban "Spring Offensive" are totally dependent on supplies running through Pakistan. The last time Pakistan shut off the spigot, the Americans ran out of toilet paper and had to cut down on food rations. It must have been hard eating food with dirty hands! If the tiff between the US and Pakistan is not resolved the US may face the consequences in Afghanistan. Failure in the Hindu Kush will certainly impact the presidential elections in 2012.
