You can get it through hard work just like they did their techs didn't came from the sky they earned it. you can do the same and you already close so if you work hard you can be there within 10 years or even less it's all about you.

.
India is not financially deprived. If it can bolster defense, it should be procured. Rafale without AESA is not so attractive specially when future weapon systems will need it.

Also procurement time frame spans over a decade. If India's defense procurement are not extensible and future ready, it is buying problems.

Save money lower the purchasing price by buying the Rafael off the shelves, India asked French for a complete transfer of the fighter manufacture to India as the Rafael must be sold in a cheapest asking price among the frontline fighter in the West, India seem to ask for too much for the money.

What is see in India is lack of cohesive strategy. They are building individual pillars better and stronger ignoring what other pillars of defense are like and how would a consolidated defense stand on top of these. They are about to start AMCA and that is unique leg without any linkage to FGFA or this MMRCA procurement. A child project LCA is also surviving by keeping nose above the water. Too much money and an equal much chaos.

India know their limitation in producing top of the line fighter jet, license to build Rafael will provide Indian engineer the opportunity to absorb the top off the line aerospace technology expertise from the western world. They choose a reason to advance India aerospace industry, India not just want to buy Rafael but the complete manufacture chain for the aircraft. French is within their reasons to jack up the price base on India asking in the Rafael deal.

.
Well if things goes like this this is not gonna happen. And French would end up in the hugelos Rafale.

I think French are more concerned about running parallel lines for India and one for themselves. In would be unfeasible for them to keep old tech going on for India and keep a parallel line to upgrade their own aircraft fleet but it also makes sense to give India what India could use for longer without requiring upgrade. French Industry is generally expensive and I think they bottle necked themselves when they pitched in MMRCA. Now they have won the contract, they are trying to get some breathing margins by offering something better but at a price which earns them some.

A third problem is India's insistence that French co. would take responsibility of production of Rafael in India. It would be an infertile working relationship French own responsibility and India everything else.

India want a future newly upgrade Rafale with all the goody coming with the deal but base on 5 yrs back of old agreeable tender asking price, India didn't sign the contract back then French in no obligation to uphold the deal. Base on the devalue of rupee and market inflation adjustment with future upgrade Rafale capacity, French would be foolish to sell India Rafale base on the old price. India drop the ball by not sign the contract in the past, now French won't sell the Rafale base on the old price.

.
But Tejas would not be produced fast enough.

So sure ?

They are about to start AMCA and that is unique leg without any linkage to FGFA or this MMRCA procurement. A child project LCA is also surviving by keeping nose above the water. Too much money and an equal much chaos.

The aim is to develop AMCA with experience and technologies developed for Tejas mk1/mk2 (composites,AESA,avionics, aero-engine) and to utilize the avionics for FGFA.Just like how development of LCA helped in development of MKI

.
It is not just about the plane. Around the time of MRCA testing, the news was that France would be providing India TOT in many fields under the guise of this deal if their fighter is selected. But the government has changed in France since then and they got a brain of their own.

.
Its been already discussed in a earlier thread man.... please wait till the deal is signed... single Rafale's cost will be below US$ 90m. and HAL will build them here.. there's no way to scrap the deal, MKI is not going to bring new capability neither LCA..
