The Syrian government warned Turkey against launching a bombing campaign in the Syrian province of Afrin, saying its air defenses may be used. Ankara had threatened airstrikes against Afrin-based Kurdish militias.

We warn the Turkish leadership that if they initiate combat operations in the Afrin area, that will be considered an act of aggression by the Turkish Army,” Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal Meqdad said in a statement reported by state media.

"The Syrian air defenses have restored their full force and they are ready to destroy Turkish aviation targets in Syrian Arab Republic skies," it added.

The statement comes after Turkish officials threatened to attack Kurdish militias in the area to prevent the creation of a US-backed “border force” based in the Afrin area in northwest Syria. Washington has since tried to downplay the planned 30,000-strong force, which Ankara branded a “terror army.”

Previously, the Turkish military operation in Syria in 2016-17 went virtually unopposed by the Syrian Army. The operation targeted both Kurdish militias and fighters of the jihadist group Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS).

Their capability is way below their claim. At the moment the syrian army can't even dream of shooting down a turkish jet. Russian's can do that but turkey is in good terms with them now. So that's just a bark rather than a bite.
Turkey call kurds "Terrorists" but supports alqaeda in idleb, strange. Anyways i'm in support of invading kurds if usa does not stop supporting the kurds militarily.

why would you support invasion of kurds? did they not fight ISIS?

.
Turkey should operate drones on their border area. They
can stay in turkish air space and fire across border.

Because if they are allowed to have a Border Security force then in future they will start supporting the kurds in turkey and the attacks in turkey will increase very rapidly. Anyone who is a friend of turkey, syria and iraq will not support the kurds. Kurds have made wrong decisions by becoming puppets of usa and israel and they will regret their decision, mark my words. Separatist movement will not become successful.

They only agreed to play the cannon fodder after US gave them some guarantees, before that they were watching the slaughter done by isis.
Only ignorants get fooled by the image being drawn for those separatists.
well I will have to read up on the issues of turkey and kurds, I'm not much aware of their problems. so I cant part in this discussion. but thanks for ur inputs.

Lol seems the Kurdish issue will be around for a long time to come. Turkey can't simply invade the whole northern kurdish part of Syria, seems Assad will make a deal with the Kurds and grant them self rule and sonething more than autonomy (which they already have since the start of the civil war. The Syrian Army has been weakened alot and they have no intention of fighting another long bloody war against the Kurds (note that the Kurds don't really care about Assad remaining in power) I believe some sort of deal has been reached between Assad and the Kurds. So Syria, Russia don't have much enmity against the Kurds unlike they do with those who seek to challenge Assad hold on power i.e FSA, and any Syrian opposition group(supported by Erdoğan as well) who is against Assad.
So its going to be an uneasy situation for Turkey. The country might have to get used to living close to a defacto kurdish state in Syria in the long term. Except Turkey is ready to risk it all and launch a full scale invasion of the whole of northern Syria occupied by the Kurds. It's going to be a very risky move though, with lots of uncertainties.
It will be Interesting to see how things play out.

Kurds don't care about assad, why should they make a deal when they have bigger player like americans? Your logic make no sense, more important assade made deal several times and kurds fak him several times so why making againg a deal?

Let assad shoot a fighter and this time we will see what wil happen. We are going with 25000 special forces. From land, sea and air he will be kicked...

I don't understand your point at all. What are you trying to say?
You mean the Kurds wouldn't make a deal with Assad because they have received support from the U S? I don't see the point you are trying to make. Why wouldn't they make a deal with Assad if it helps solidify their rule even more over their stronghold in Northern Syria?
You should also know that there are American/ British(they could have easily toppled Assad if they wanted long ago but they held back) and even some Russian soldiers around areas held by the Kurds. So all these major world powers have nor real concern or issue with the Kurds like Turkey does. You should know by now that every power involved in his conflict have their own interests, which sometimes converge and conflict with each other. The Syrian conflict is a very complex civil war and alliances are intertwined and changes with the tide of battle and geo- political realignments. It's not a black and white issue.

Moreover, as of now, the U. S, U. K and other western powers dont have as priority Assad leaving power anymore. They simply want some sort of presence and influence over Syria for the long term. Same with Russia who is also after protecting its only Arab state ally in the region where they still have alot of influence over. They have no real influence over any other Arab state experts Syria and they will fight and risk everything to protect this strategic presence and influence which is normal. So they have no beef with the Kurds either. So even if hypothetically speaking Assad shoots a Turkish jet invading Syria I'm not sure Turkey will risk going to war with the Syrian Army as well. Since Syria is backed by Russia and Putting doesn't want to see Assad fall AT ALL. Will you risk a war with Russia as well? Note that NATO can't intervene since this will be a Turkish invasion not the opposite and I don't think the major NATO players U. S, U. K, France will intervene giving the current situation/circumstances. So Turkey will have to tread carefully with this issue. Else it might lead to an even more unstable situation for Turkey.

Your topic and discussion is nonsense.
Turkey won't attack Afrin Directly, All of it is noise.
Just some small border clashes and maybe Salafi Terrorist attack on Afrin from Idlib.

Just wondering....how do you know ?

Are you a fortune teller that can see the future ? Do you have some super powers ?

.
See, the Turks know when the situation has crossed a red line and threatens their national security and they willfully act regardless of what the U.S or others say. I respect that. While we in Pakistan fall on our knees and prostrate and watched the U.S install a hostile Afghan government post 2001. Difference between people who have honour and self respect and those who are willing to sell everything to earn a few bucks.

.
No problem, our airplanes are capable of shooting missiles from within Turkish borders that can hit anywhere in Afrin area.
