Dabangg brings Pakistani public back to cinema halls

It's the old age winning formula. I think after Once Upon a Time, and Dabangg, producers are seeing that going for mega stunts and big exotic locations is an expensive mistake.

I'm sure they'll re-evaluate their stance and bring films back to India. I know the Western market is lucrative, but don't neglect your core audience, or that soul we the viewer are after.

Actually, you are pretty much right there. Movie makers were losing their core audiences and with that the money that they bring. Many expensive films had bombed making producers re-evaluate their methods. As a result, recently you would see a lot art/multiplex type movies with a real theme that connects with the audience. Oye Lucky..., Dev D, Khosla ka Ghosla are a few such movies. These types of movies got a boost when young educated film makers got backing from upcoming film houses like UTV and PVR.

But the market for Karan Johar type NRI movies still remains. Its just the nature of us Indians. We want escapist, emotion laden extravaganzas.

:woot: 70% theaters and in Pakistan present now ??? Not possible.

They have converted many good movie theaters into shopping malls .

and yeh those who watch these movies are as brainless :P

i was talking about 70% occupancy inside Pakistani theaters

anyway good of u for ur confirmation that they r all brainless:rofl:

Good to see that Pakistanis liked it. But I didn't liked the movie. There were much better movies than this one, even by Sallu bhai. Story was very common and full of masala.

Looking forward for Hrithik-Ash starer Guzaarish...

Congrats you are among those few per cent who watch crap copies :D

We can see that!!!!! You are the fewer percent who watch those movies but deny it!! :woot: Its not a top secret that bollywood movies are very popular in Pakistan. :bunny:

I enjoyed it very much, it was a pure masala entertainment flick. Escapism of the purest form.

It makes a good return to Bollywood roots by being filmed in UP. I just can't stand all these NRI type films set overseas, with skyscrapers and all things Western. I can't warm to such artificial screenplay, no depth or soul.

Give me the character of India, the villages, the bazaars, old quarters any day of the week. That's why Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai was a hit also. The common man can relate to it. Don't chase the Western paisa by filming abroad, they're rarely a hit.

Looking forward to seeing Peepli Live.

Agreed, sick and tired of "NRI movies". Bring back the stories, directing and scripts of the 60s, 70s, 80s and polish it up with modern production and Im sure they will do much better.

Peepli Live is pretty good, although the dialouges are a bit hard to understand if don't get village talk. But overall the way Indian media creates hypes out of nothing is intelligently protrayed.

Also the actors and directors are actually realtime talent in a village theatre company.

BTW Indians were very disturbed at Peepli Live but as soon as it has gone to Oscar suddenly bhartis decided to own it

There was some animosity towards slumdog millionaire's success ,but i don't recall a single word of criticism from the Indian public about Peepli live.

Stop speaking for Bharatis here.

Iam going to watch this.... Its said to be asia's Costliest Film...

no it is not,Indian film industry(b it bollywood or south) and the entertainment media highly likes to exaggerate thing, they want to make it sound that they r the number 2 after Hollywood

the costliest Asian movie is Red Cliff a Chinese war film, made with a budget of more than $80 million, now enthiran which claims to b the costliest in Asia does not even have half of its budget

I know by being filmed in UP you mean story being based in UP, right?

Because the movie is shot in Maharashtra, so was Omkara!

I liked Peepli live very much.
