Cutting-edge Israeli radar wins air force approval for Tejas fighter

This is the right way to go

It serves two puproses

1- IAF gets an operational fighter jet witn an AESA right on time to maintain the minimum required squardron strength.

2- HAL/DRAO gets required time to develope indigenous Uttam AESA.

Once uttam is ready we can put it on tejas :)

:)

.
In numbers game its a game worth playing.

IAF will be served well and the menu will be open to see for all, soon.
Good point.

I think it is worth discussing the sheer variety of AESA radars that will be in IAF service in the not to distant future- the Rafale, LCA, Super MKI and FGFA are all coming with different AESA radars and there is even some speculation the DARIN III will now incorporate an AESA radar (the EL/M-2052).

This news article does not seem to be fully accurate because:

1. A few days back there were several articles that suggested that IAF has given a go ahead for LCA 1A as a stop gap measure, equipped with indigenous AESA.
2. UTTAM AESA is progressing well.
3. The news regarding ELTA 2052 AESA has been reported in Business Standard only, and not anywhere else.

LCA Tejas to fill in for shortage of aircraft, IAF to go in for 100 odd modified fighter jets
