F-16 Fleet Upgrade program currently underway.

Common Configuration Implementation Program (CCIP)

In April of 2005 the Turkish government signed a LoA for the upgrade of 217 F-16s (38 block 30, 104 block 40, 76 block 50) totalling $3.9 billion if all options are exercised. The upgrade for the Turkish F-16s consist of the APG-68(V)9 multimode radar (currently being installed on new Advanced Block 50/52 F-16s), color cockpit displays and recorders, new core avionics processors, the Joint Helmet-Mounted Cueing System, Link 16 data link, advanced interrogator/transponder, integrated precision navigation, a unique electronic warfare system, and compatibility with a number of new weapons and targeting systems.Raytheon AIM-9X Integration. This upgrade will see the Turkish F-16s use common hard- and software.
This work will be performed by Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) and is due to be completed in 2012.

New F-16s Orders

In edition to the above Turkey has ordered 30 new F-16 Block 50 aircraft in the same configuration of the CCIP program.

The total LOA value for the 30 aircraft and equipment is approximately $1.8 billion; Lockheed Martin and its supplier base will receive approximately $1.1 billion of this amount. Final assembly and delivery of the aircraft will be performed at TUSAS Aerospace Industries (TAI) in Turkey, furthering the longstanding business relationship between Lockheed Martin and TAI. Lockheed Martin release. Orders are to take place in the 2011-2012 time frame.

The US DSCA announces Turkey’s official request to buy 30 AN/ Sniper Extended Range Targeting Pods, and 30 AN/AAQ-13 LANTIRN Extended Range Navigation Pods. Turkey would also receive containers, flight tests, integration, digital cartridge interface, spare and repair parts, and other forms of support.

Order includes:

* 30 Lockheed Martin Advanced F-16C Block 50 Aircraft;
* 32 Northrop Grumman AN/APG-68v9 Radars;
* 42 General Electric F110-129 Engines;
* 60 LAU-129A Launchers – these will handle both AIM-9 Sidewinder and AIM-120 AMRAAM missiles;
* 36 VSI Joint Helmet Mounted Cueing System that puts the heads-up display right in the pilot’s helmet;
* 36 MIDS-LVT (Multifunctional Information Distribution System-Low Volume Terminals) Link 16 terminals;
* 3 Link-16 Ground Stations; and
* 35 of BAE Systems AN/APX-113 Advanced Identification Friend or Foe (AIFF);
* 36 of ITT Industries’ AN/ALQ-211 Airborne Integrated Defensive Electronic Warfare Suites or BAE Systems’ AN/ALQ-178 Self Protection Electronic Warfare Suites (ITT’s AIDEWS won).

A total of 7 F-16 training systems have also been ordered which gives TuAF Block 50+ training capability at all major Air Force bases.

If all options are done Turkey will have 247 F-16s all at Block 50+ standard in addition to the F-35 order of 116 aircraft which will start coming in by 2016-17

Israel has recieved a total of 362 F-16 A/B/C/D. Of these estimates have it 300-340 remain in service depending on different sources. Most say around 300 are still in service total. Most have seen some sort of upgrade from minor to advanced. The most advanced being some 100 F-16I which are block 52+ aircraft that have Israeli modifications on them.
