HYDERABAD, India, March 30 (Reuters) - Police have imposed a curfew in parts of the Indian IT hub of Hyderabad after three days of clashes between Hindus and Muslims that killed one person and injured 80, police said on Tuesday.

Riot police have been deployed and 110 people arrested in connection with the clashes, which started on Saturday when a Hindu group replaced Muslim flags with Hindu ones on the streets during a festival.

The city, home to companies such as Microsoft <MSFT.O>, Google <GOOG.O> and Mahindra Satyam <SATY.BO>, has been hit by months of sporadic unrest over the proposed creation of a separate Indian state, carved out of Andhra Pradesh state.

Police have imposed a curfew since Monday night in the Muslim-majority old part of the city, but the newer parts of Hyderabad which host big tech companies remain unaffected.

"Anybody creating trouble during the curfew will be dealt with firmly," A.K. Khan, the city's police commissioner, told reporters. (Editing by Matthias Williams and Ron Popeski)

Interesting. This will pose serious problems to the operation and safety of these lucrative MNC and IT companies. Perhaps the growing disparity between the Hindus who are employed by these companies and the Muslims who are often overlooked is part to blame???

what s the big deal if the flags were replaced man? Is that a reason to riot!! I hate these religious leaders,on both sides. They make me sick!!

Hindus telling Muslim india is for Hindus Only thats the Big deal.

Nope. Bigoted politicians using mobs (suspected from out of town) to create mayhem. Now that is a bigger deal. Thank heavens the police commissioner is Muslim so nobody can accuse the police of bias

What makes you say that "Muslims are often overlooked"?? Did you obtain that info from a credible site or did you just imagine that and post your imagination as a fact ? FYI the IT companies do employ a large number of Muslims. The fact of the matter is that there are no job reservations or discriminations against Muslims by these companies. My cousin works for an IT company in Hyderabad and your statement is way off the mark as by his estimate, at least 60% of his colleagues are Muslims. This was mentioned by him when he stated that he makes his most amount of overtime during Eid etc when his Muslim colleagues get the day off. That certainly takes your suggestion to the dustbin.
