Sorry to hurt their ego, but there are much more Mongols in China than in Outer Mongolia. They should have long done that. China is by far the largest trading partner of Mongolia. 84% of her exports go to China and 40% of her imports come from China.
But there are resistance to learning Chinese among the older generation. I remember reading a Mongolian blog years ago explaining that they feel that the Mongols are a superior warrior race and refuse to learn anything Chinese. They are always afraid that China's huge population would pour into the vast underpopulated Mongolian steppes and reclaim the territory.
There was this Mongolian singer who married a Chinese and she became a wide-hated person there because she betrayed her 'Mongol blood'.
And they do not use the real Mongol any more, full of Russian words.
How about Mongol girl singing Mongol style song in Mandarin?
p.s. one of the most popular pop songs that Chinese aunties use for their Square Dance across China
How about Tibetan girl from Sichuan Province singing Mongol style song from Inner Mongolia in Mandarin?
How about one of the most beloved Mongol singer in China?
Singing for decades and multiple times in Spring Festival Gala
This song is literally known to all Chinese!
Beautiful grassland, my hometown!
Heaven, equally famous song as "beautiful grassland, my hometown"
