Crank Calls from Pakistan

This morning I recieved a call from + 92 3427748857. The gent on the other end identified himself as ' Vijay" . He informed me of having 'won' Rs 15 lakhs and proceeded to give instructions on how to claim it.

I repiled to the missed call thinking it was a Tata Indicom No ( starting with 92..). Upon realising that no Airtel executive would call from a Tata No, I saw the No carefully to realise it was prefixed with + 92 and not + 91.

Needless to say I gave him a mouthful . I am sharing this for information of others who may be so affected & to warn others.

Lol reminds me of the times i was in school we used to dial some number in dehli and ask to talk to karina kapoor and the old hag on the other side would get high like a rocket lovely days.No offence just for fun.

This is a global phenomenon. Pakistani numbers are appearing as Missed calls on people's phone and it is not just a crank call.

They will tell you things like you've won some money and if you can confirm some certain number on your sim card, we'll give you the money and when you do give that number to them, they end up withdrawing some large sum of money and you end up footing the bill.

These are loopholes existing in many telecoms all over the world being exploited by scam artists.

I'm not sure why only Pakistani numbers are showing up. Probably because VoIP connectivity can be set up from home with minimum documentation in 5 mins in Pakistan

I recieve phone calls from India all the time offering me stuff (obviously a scam) Instantly when i hear an Indian vocie i hang up.

No offence i think he means accent.Indians have a distinct accent like u guys use words like YA,NA for example=

few days back i got called from so called PTCL headquater in chakwal ......i won 50 million rupees....but to get them i had to pay Rs 5000 processing charges

My Dad once picked up a Phone call from Pakistan...on my mobile thinking it was from India ..... and boy when the guy on the other side started his "You have won a lottery....and all that crap".....my dad just blasted him off......with all MC....BC...and all good words....the guy must have pissed in his pants.....I ran to my dad..thinking he must be shouting at our driver......and then saw him shouting into my phone.....and kind of guessed ..what it was all about....I still have a roll...when I think about it.......

Like an Indian accent. I can obviously tell the difference between an Indian accent and an Australian accent.

As an American I knew what he meant by sounds like an Indian (even tho I would amend this to south asian). Of course, when told I have an American accent, I don't hear it (what could he be talking about? I don't have an accent!)
