Crackdown in Afghan camps and outskirts of Peshawar

PESHAWAR: Police and intelligence agencies initiated a crackdown in Afghan camps and outskirts of the city on Thursday.
According to police sources, suspects who are believed to have provided support to the Peshawar school attackers were arrested during the search operation.
The crackdown comes as the investigation into the Peshawar school attack continues. Investigation and forensic teams of the police collected evidence from the Army Public School. The investigation teams also met with the eyewitnesses of the attack and recorded their statements.
A special anti-terrorism team is carrying out the probe of the attack while the investigation of the district police and intelligence agencies also continues.
On Tuesday, Taliban gunmen stormed the Army Public School in Peshawar and carried out one of the most horrific terrorist attacks in the history of Pakistan. The attack left 146 people including 135 children dead.
In response Pakistan ended its moratorium on the death penalty in terror related cases. The prime minister announced during the All Parties Conference on Wednesday that there is no good or bad Taliban, adding that the military operation was taking on all terrorists without any discrimination.
A committee headed by Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar and comprising members of political parties, armed forces and intelligence agencies was also formed during the APC. The committee is tasked with formulating a plan to tackle terrorism in seven days which will be presented before the nation.
