All the space enthusiasts. I could not find the topic, hence the cutout

4.24 light years away is still way too far away.

No, a realist.
If you were a realist you would know that even an all out nuclear war won't drive the human race to extinction. It would be just a restart button on Civilization. We have a few million years and it took about 100,000 to reach the moon.

A realist prepares for the worse, a pessimist sees only doom and gloom, and a optimist only sees false hopes leading to the same scenario as the pessimist.

We will live forever and we will be gods. We will find our place in the stars and there is so much we can and will learn. We live in interesting times.

No chance we can't even cure cold virus properly

Also even if planet is same distance as earth look at venus and mars , no life

  • Talk about Luck , a moon of right size just happens to be next to our planet to move tides
  • Magnetic core to generate the shield from sun's radiation

Humans can only reach space and that distance if they can freeze their age around 20-25 years permanently

1400 years is like 7-10 generations of present human life

Say what you want, I don't have much hope for humans. The next couple of centuries will likely be our last, if we don't kill ourselves, the universe probably will.

The Black Death was one of the most devastating pandemics in human history, resulting in the deaths of an estimated 75 to 200 million people and peaking in Europe in the years 1346–53

Human populations did not recovered until 1700 from the pandemic damage

The 1918 flu pandemic (January 1918 – December 1920) was an unusually deadly influenza pandemic, the first of the two pandemics involving H1N1 influenza virus. It infected 500 million people across the world including remote Pacific islands and the Arctic, and resulted in the deaths of 50 to 100 million (three to five percent of the world's population), making it one of the deadliest natural disasters in human history

It seems that when ever Human Population crosses a certain thrash hold , mother nature has a auto response to reduce the population i.e by Means of a counter force also known as "Virus"

Now lets look at present 2016
  • Zika virus , makes human babies disabled , Impaired human traits (Mind / motion)
  • The Swine Flu virus is still active in around Hong Kong region every summer surfaces
  • Ebola virus is active is Africa (Death ratio 90-95% 7-8 days and you die)
  • There is virus outbreak in Middle east area (unsure of the name), dangerous enough that blood banks refuse blood from people who visited these areas

With modern day traveling culture , it is only a matter of time

Most scientist have even stated the world is "OVER POPULATED" , and they have even setup
emergency "SEED / PLANT centers in remote areas in case if something devastating happens the remaining humans can perhaps repopulate earth with seeds and plant samples

So this is just one of the elements that humans will have to face in next 100 years

Light year trips to Other star system is just not achievable for another 1000 years

a) Simplest reason is our bodies "bones" they loose strength in
mere 200-300 days in space by 15-30%, even with the treadmill running and other excersie

b) Our body is adapted to life in gravity environment , the fluid mechanics of our body don't
work well in space

It is quite depressing once you find the facts , about weakness of human body structure - how limited it is to be able to travel in space

Unless we invent Teleportation , jumping from point to point , conventional travel will not take us further then moon or mars , even trip to Saturn takes 10 -15 years

We just need to redistribute and re-invent agriculture. Problem solved.

The only way to prevent pandemics is to sterilize the human race from the face of the Earth. No humans, No pandemics.
