Pakistan Army on Thursday reiterated that Kashmir was the country’s “jugular vein” and no compromise would be made on the Kashmiris’ right to self determination.
The remarks were made at a Corps Commanders conference presided by army chief General Qamar Bajwa at the General Headquarters (GHQ).
According to ISPR, the military’s media wing, the forum acknowledged how the Kashmir issue, as well as, Indian human rights violations in Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK) were effectively highlighted at last month’s United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session.
The geo-strategic environment and national security were reviewed in view of the Indian siege of the valley which has now crossed 60 days.
“The forum appreciated how foreign-backed efforts to destabilise Pakistan were effectively being dealt with,” the military’s statement read.
The army reiterated its resolve to give a befitting response to any Indian misadventure after irresponsible statements by Indian military commanders.
“Pakistan Army is fully configured, prepared and determined to defend honour, dignity and territorial integrity of motherland at all cost. Kashmir is jugular vain of Pakistan,” it said.
The army has hammered home that Kashmir is an indelible part of Pakistan with the army chief having lent his support to the people trapped inside the occupied territory by New Delhi.
