Yet I don't totally agree with the pic as Japanse girls have bigger eyes, which make it's harder to tell them from Chinese girls.
Actually mate.. Most Japanese are easily distinguishable from Chinese, Especially from the Han people.. Even for non East Asians like me.. Mongolians and Koreans are a different matter, Very similar with the Japanese although in general Korean people tend to be physically bigger
I dont intend my post to be offensive, Just something i have observed
Yes you can tell difference , but it is based on what part of Japan you are drawing samples from. For example, in Northern Japan -- there is a stronger Ainu / Jomon bloodline that is mixed with Japanese -- so the result is a unique physical phenotype. Northern Japanese are bigger, taller, harrier, larger skulls, more prominent (longer) nasal bridge, rounder eyes.
Here is a Japanese (Northern) man. Note the facial features.

Here is a Japanese actress, and she looks very similar to the Chinese actress above.
This is the common phenotype in Japan, but not in China.

Let us test the theory and find out who is right.
As an Indian, I am far away, but not as far as the West.
So put up photos of East Asian girls (preferably hot ones) - Chinese, Japanese, and Korean.
Then I will tell you who belongs to which country.
After 20 odd (or 50) we can do a tally. That should help establish how easy it is for outsiders to make out the difference? Deal?
Are you sure? Do you country fellow agree? Well certainly she is not Korean.
Not from that movie.
Michelle Yeoh is very old now, and these two actresses were born after the 1980s.

This is probably the old Chinese phenotype in North China, but it probably got preserved more in Japan than in the modern China.
