Why? Isn't Coke Studio is owned by coca cola? Rohail is the Pakistani version producer, right?

They asked for a Pakistani, Shafqat, to head it, so they definitely don't have problems with Pakistanis... Rohail is what made Coke Studio what it is. Definitely not a loss for the Indians to have him on board.

Its not about popularity. It mostly appeals to the specialist listener, you know the ones who are still into raag paat and all that and can appreciate modern instruments.

Its about the long forgotten singers not the super famous ones.

Coke studio is certainly not comparable to Bollywood. It's a TV show, not a film industry. It's about folk or fusion, not film music.

Your newspapers certainly know about coke studio but for that you have to read your very own newspapers. If it's silly then why the hell you guys are copying the idea? Stick to your sa re ga ma.

For the thousandth time Coke Studio is not a Pakistani concept Yes the Indian version probably started after seeing the success of the Pakistani version, but its not a Pakistani concept! At the end of the day its just a jam session sponsored by coke. And yes don't worry Indians will not kill "your" awesome concept by their sh*tty music, which mind you was the very reason why this thread was made.

And as fas the as the shows like Saregama are concerned, those are talent hunt shows, not the same as when seasoned bands come for Jam sessions.

Here's the Brazilian Coca Cola Zero Studio, which mind you was the first one.. Enjoy

Just because there was a show called Coca Cola Studio doesn't take it away that Rohail and his team made Coke Studio what it is today. That was more of a generic unplugged session show, people are literally creating new music, perhaps even new genres of music.

Anyway Pakistan has also got many other such competitors to Coke Studio too, because this is an area where Pakistan excels at.
