this news is more accurate - the 14 helos have been supplied to PA on 'lease' as at least 8-12 PAA Cobras AH-1S are going to be withdrawn for 'upgrade' to AH-1F standard under a long pending US$ 75m FMS deal - the upgrade will take upto 12 months either in the US or quite possibly Turkey.

lets wait for more 'authentic' news sources.

But its too old ;(

What where you thinking buddy? You imagine America will help Pakistan on our terms and fulfill our glass of water to our satisfaction? We refused to take those shadow drones.. there came Scan Eagle but now we are ready to take these dead meat helos so they are going to stay. So lets polish them, label PAF on them and make some place for them in historical Museums. It hurts but doesn't change the reality that Beggars are not choosers.

Stop expecting and start acting. Contribute even if it is little bit, just little bit good to this nation this homeland this country. We need no dying holes but your contribution to build this Nation. It is time for that.

take it whats comming we have to decide that time when we accept this deal not now.

All these helicopters are in US retirement yards,

Why not give all these helicopters and A10 crafts to Pakistan Army

What good are these doing sitting in desert rusting away ??
Let us use these

At least lets use these in joint effort against something our armies are fighting against ...

Really its a point to consider ... :usflag::pakistan:

80 Cobras + 20 A10 ...

they r there for a reason, they've lived their lives completely and probably aren't airworthy, it would take hell lot of $$$ to bring them back to life!

Dude.. I am not suggesting that US should not help Pakistan. I am simply saying that the mess that PA is clearing is in Pakistan and is Pakistan's problem. Whatever help you get from US is bonus.. But for Pakistan's progress its imperitive for you to clear this area of Pakistan infested by terror groups..

Dude a little reality check boss this is now Pakistan's prob correct but this mess was made by the US and they know it and world knows it we loosing lives everyday cuz of US 's mess now its both our prob's infact the worlds prob and we are the biggest if not the least the force that is tryign to kill these cowards and we shall keep doing just so until We need Us 's help nothing is free in this world and they have alot to go around specially when it there own mess to clean so we need them and they need us .1. Our own people can sleep safely at night. 2. Less of the cowards in the world to conduct deaths of others. and in end peace in the region where there is already so much drama may i not mention wat.... and from whom so in the interm Us and Pak both need each other .

As per fatman these are AH1Fs which are from US stock sent on lease. This will allow all of PAs current inventory of AH1S to be upgraded to AH1Fs.Once upgraded we will have 35-40 decent platforms and US will let us have AHIZs when they become available in 2015.I think these ones will do the job in the interim. Again , we need to be thankful to the US for assisting us in our times of need.members must remember that irrespective of the turn of events, it is our soil and our people who are sufferring at the hands of these terrorists. We therefore need to appreciate the help we are getting.

Pakistan will become American's second junk market soon....

selling us 20 - 30 years old junk ...Providing STATE OF THE OLD ART ...

Technically speaking no one has stopped us from doing our own Research and development work on Helicopters

These planes not enough but we can't be unthankful , hopefully we will get proper support , 80 helicopters & 20 A-10 planes for our ground operations.

We should really launch our own Helicopter R&D since we already are working on hell fire like missile in our inventory

@ Fatman

Any chance we will get AH 1Z ????

We have been promised - that in 2015 when the helicopters are available for forigne countries , I think till then we should be happy with 80 cobras & 10 A10 if we can get these for our army

These air crafts have zero flying hours clock in them. In fact the new P-3 orions PN is getting are in fact from this stock if i am not wrong.

Let's put it that way, neither US nor West was ready of sudden demand of attack helicopter. It eventually sky rocketed after FATA operation. After seeing the effective use of this helo by Pak army, everyone realize and all nation start rushing toward exploration new venues for the quick development. US is already short of helo in Afghanistan, specially transport helos. Right now a private Dutch firm is full filling the US army demands for Helo in Afghanistan. So, just imagine where demand stands right now.....
War is commercializing, leasing the equipment buy insurance, if destroyed insurance pay, otherwise after mission return the equipment.
