Only proper engineering can help alleviate these problems. It will be a massive task for a poor country like ours.

I am not holding any degree lol and i am not highly intellectual and PhD holders like yourself. I also don't associate myself with any political parties or leaders like yourself who never dared to criticized the U-Turn or polices of IK damaging peace of Pakistan but i found it offensive that people use deaths caused by these floods in particular province for political scoring or to express their desperation of bashing certain political leaders which they blindly hate .

People are even so stupid that they are comparing industrial cities like Lahore/Karachi with Islamabad and western countries without even realizing that Lahore and Karachi are also over populated/dense cities with narrow streets and roads and also its plain land compare to Islamabad which make it hard for constant water to drain quickly. People are also confusing guttering system with drainage system for storms and non stop heavy rains in moon soon seasons which cause flooding in rivers/Dams/lakes. I agree government can do many things to minimize the risk of flooding or building additional canals along with cities but Its not easy to build such strong drainage system to completely drain away such a deadly floods and water of nonstop rains in monsoon season. These are floods pictures in best developed country UK even after having all proper drainage system even though its population is not as dense as in Pakistan

Well..it is not stupid to compare esp when the claim by our veteran @Syed.Ali.Haider was that there is provision for drainage in each project...So based on that.....Lahore which has alot of projects thanks to SS ....should also have the most upgraded drainage, right?

Either admit SS in 7 years couldnt make drainage despite all those projects he claimed OR that there is drainage it just wasnt planned enough for an overpopulated city....got any more ideas to put in?

Yes...it is not easy...but at least once invested it will not happen every year! Maybe once in 4-5 yrs its understandable!

Galiyan? No but pointing out his incompetency, corruption and shortcuts ...as for natural disaster...its not a first time happening in his term.....

If it happens once, CM should learn but if it has become a norm then it is not just the natural disaster to point at but the habit of turning it into a annual circus!
