Christians in Tamil Nadu have launched a political party in the state,
where a legislative assembly poll is scheduled for April 13.

Archbishop A.M. Chinnapa of Madras-Mylapore diocese formally launched the Indian Christian People’s Party (ICPP) on March 20.

He also unveiled the flag of the party, which has 150 members from all
over the state.

“ICPP would be the political organ of the Indian Christian Church,”
the archbishop said.

Founder member of the party F. A. Nathan said the founding team plans to build its membership among Christians, specifically Catholics in Tamil Nadu, before launching it in other states.

The founding committee of the party asked the state government to protect fishermen, provide job opportunities and contain inflation.

A.M. Chinnappa, Archbishop of Madras-Mylapore, on Sunday announced the launch of Indian Christian People's Party (ICPP) and unveiled its flag and website. The ICPP would function as the sole political organ of the Indian Christian Church, said A. Anthony Fernandez in his introductory remarks.

Archbishop Chinnappa said that the ICPP was not a threat to any political party and its election manifesto would be released in a week's time. The members also passed resolutions demanding that the State government withdraw cases filed against Christian educational institutions, steps to contain inflation and increase job opportunities and to prevent attack on fishermen.

sorry but bjp is not a party based on religion. it has many muslim leaders like SHEHNAVAZ HUSSAIN, MUKHTAAR ABAAS NAQVI, NAJMA HAPPTULLAH, SHAINA NC etc. etc. etc.

well if they can come up with real determination they can work towards betterment of the relative communities.

on the other hand as far as your point is concerned yes that couild also be the case but again for stopping such formation you have to do away with existing religious outfits otherwise it doesnt hold any weight.


Congress can net the vote bank of these Christians by entering into alliance with Christian political party thus support from Congress as well as catholic voters it can win some seats
