Christian Families in Central India Beaten After Refusing to Renounce Faith

05/14/2020 India (International Christian Concern) – According to Morning Star News, five Christian families in India’s Chhattisgarh state were beaten by fellow villagers after they refused renounce their Christian faith. The families were also told that they would lose their harvest lands for refusing to return to the village’s tribal religion.

On May 5, five Christian families from Salhephal village, located in the Bastar District, were summoned to a meeting with village leaders. When they arrived, they found the elders of the village estimating the values of their lands, Morning Star News reported.

The village leaders told the Christians, ‘You are not partaking in our tribal rituals, and so we cannot allow you to profit from your agricultural lands,’” Pastor Sirisguda Ramdhar told Morning Star News.

When the Christians responded to this, the elders became angry and attacked two of the Christians. Then a mob of at least 60 people came and began “clamoring” for the Christians to renounce their faith, Morning Star News reported.

When the Christians refused, they abused them in extremely vulgar language and started beating them,” Pastor Ramdhar told Morning Star News. “The mob was very furious and did not spare even the women. They stoned Madda Poyami, injuring him on his head and knee.

The injured Christians were taken to a hospital in the city of Jangdalpur to receive medical treatment. There, a Christian lawyer from the Alliance Defending Freedom India met with the victims and is helping file a complaint against the village elders and the mob.

This is how far the Sangh has reached.

Even the remotest of places inhabited by the most primitive people have succumbed to Hindutva.

Only a foreign intervention like the action against Nazi Germany or 90s Serbia will help.

I maybe ill-informed but Christians are not safe in Pakistan too.

They are safe. This is not the rule.

We host Punjabi Christans natives and also migrants from partition with pride and honor.

I grew up with many Christians and they are still like my family. Do not propagate falsehoods.

We all still remember everyday bomb blastsin churches not long ago in pak..we still remember hundreds of chtistians dying in those blasts...hindus at least wont do that..killing thousands by blowing off bombs...
The situation in pakistan now seems to be somewhat calm...but if I were a pakistani christian, I would always feel unsafe....pakistanis should be the last people to talk about minorities rights.

Neither is the rule here, especially for Christians. They're most educated and well placed minority in India, it's Muslims who're marginalised.
