There's something called "Navy Damage Control Exercise" ... of course the best role model is the U.S Navy their crew have rich experiences of warship damage control during WWII/Cold War ... ask @Nihonjin1051 he must knew & learnt some skills of "Damage Control" when serving in Japan Navy's DDG.

But compared with U.S Navy's 'Damage Control' trainning, the young China Navy still lack good experiences, and that need a long time to improve the quality of 'Damage Control'.

It could have been a mandatory damage control training / fire fighting course. Its a required course in most navy personnel.

But in that case, how come the chinese bloggers or the press didn't mentioned anything about that? That would it have been an easy explanation; no, sorry, but it doesn't make sense, it was a real "accident".

That is a point to consider. Any case, those Chinese netizens should be wary in talking down their own military vessels.

As a former military guy myself, there is nothing more disrespectful than one's own countrymen talking down on military professionals. Does not matter what country they are from; be they from Japan, America, Korea, China, Somalia , Israel or Egypt et cetera.

That's just my two cents.

so we are taking the words of bloggers now. It could be a real accident, why can't it be a real accident. Real accidents are better, it prepares you far more than exercises.

This is very rough sea, and while not knowing all the details, China is taking exercises these days to the next level.

Freedom of Speech, see, we have it.

Anyway, having said that, the first war China gets into is going to suck, we won't lose, but the casualties may be too high, by a advance nation standard.

Like America's Vietnam war.

Any operations after that should be fine, relatively.

They do have a right to point out the vulnerability / limitations of the ships though, specially considering that the official press always boast of how good those ships are. Incidents like this bring a doses of "reality" to balance the official narrative. And anyway, self criticism is usually a virtue, don't you think?

Damage Control and ship design are both important and can't easily learn from others. USA, Japan and UK got those knowlage also for some cost.
I'm not sure the Damage Control part, hope they have improved it.
The ship design part is changing for sure.
Type 052C just like you have seen.
This is Type 052D, the same windows are open towards outside and change to water proof door.

It was a real accident, look at the TV announcement in the video.

I must admit the American did better & more real, anyway China Navy need to learn lots of good experiences from U.S Navy, especially skills of 'Damage Control'.

they are not even the best destroyers in China.....

which are those?? on paper they should be at the top, but like i've been saying China needs a small war to work out the kinks just like Russia did with Georgia.

China vs. Vietnam when :bounce::bounce:

On paper it is the type 055, not out yet, but then again the 052D has only been in the force for about a year.

For that first conflict we like to go with the navy that does as much damage to itself than others with the firing of a round.
