LAHORE: Realme, a Chinese smartphone brand, has notified its intention to enter Pakistan’s market this year.

According to a press statement, Realme aims to target the younger generation through its affordable product range.

At its launch in Pakistan, the company is set to target over 60% of the youth following such launches in multiple Asian markets including Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Vietnam and India. Additionally, the company says it has created a strong market presence in Thailand.

In India, the company sold 1 million units within four months, making it the fourth most popular online smartphone brand. In Indonesia, the company managed to sell 40,000 units in 21 minutes.

On the other hand, Huawei Consumer Business Group Pakistan is striving to take advantage of the latest fifth generation (5G) technology as its executives are working to create 5G-enabled handsets in synchronisation with its parent company, Huawei Technologies China.

Owing to the large size of the market with a population of over 200 million, the executives consider Pakistan as a potential market.

In terms of volume, the company has surpassed Apple globally in the second quarter of this year. In Pakistan, it posted a growth of over 100%, taking its market share to 22.2% in the second quarter of 2018 from 10.5% in the same quarter of previous year.

Since Pakistan is a fast emerging market for the company besides having a strong history of acceptance and adaptability with new technologies, the company plans to continue introducing innovative devices at competitive prices.

Realme is coming soon to Pakistan

Realme began as a more affordable subsidiary of Oppo, but in no time it separated into its brand and started smashing all kinds of records on every market it stepped. First arriving in India and then following on other Asia Pacific markets, the company will set foot in Pakistan, its seventh country. The good news was announced by the official Facebook page of the Pakistani division.

Up to this date, there are only five Realme smartphones, but all of them are unique on their own. The latest Realme U1 was introduced as the first device, powered by Helio P70 chipset, while its predecessor Realme 2 Pro was the first with a waterdrop notch.

While there is lack of any information about arrival date, pricing or which phones will be available at launch, we have an official confirmation, which is the first step of Realme phones arriving at Pakistani online and offline retailers.

. . . . . . .
how about a local Pakistani brand making phones for Pakistan
Long way...We need to develop our own processor and stuff! No idea if anyone is inspired enough to do so...If yes, would be good as it would decrease imports!

I really like Huawei mate 20 pro
I had used Huawei plug in internet doggle but never the phone itself...

many regional smartphone manufacturer actually dont manufacture most of their components take alcatel for example a french company doing business in a limited region of Europe .
such a business model can be very profitable for a local company and with the recent taxes on imported phones, local assembly seems to be the a good option

.
FU*ck you Govt if it is only assembly unit or If it is importing from China(which it look like) ...………….. This company or any other company can come in Pakistan if and only when they bring manufacturing Unit In Pakistan.
Say No to Imports …...Say no to $$$$ going out ………..

I hope the increase in tax would make people to start innovating local products to curb the "expensive imports"....It is said under pressure innovation yields good stuff....let wait and see...Sadly, despite all the engineers and doctors, we still havent had a single ingenious product to compete with "imported stuff"!

Pakistanis are just too lazy to make something and previously the govt didnt support much innovation and made the country rely heavily on imports! But now we have crowdfunding and other means ....still nation is half dead! High taxes resulted in cries and whining instead of innovation...I am not sure what will push the nation to innovate!

our country has amazing talent but due to government lack of support or vision most of them either left the country or are trying to do so .
because to find opportunities in Pakistan is hard and to create opportunities in Pakistan is almost impossible

I think in the past yes...in the current environment it is lack of interest! ESP since you can just import and without thinking damage the nation's economy!
