Chinese Naval Air Force (PLANAF) News & Discussions

J-XX 5th gen stealth fighter will have the smallest RCS among PLA's fighters, it has 360 degree battle awareness like J-20, its optical kits can detect F-35 type targets 1XX KMs away, can establish data links to almost all PLAAF, PLANAF and other land based units to utilise their fire-powers to engage targets````

its main mission tasks are to achieve battle theatre's air and sea dominace, and providing targets coordinate parameters to launched weapons (like to guide anti AC ballistic missiles)````

its radar and infrared coating can reduce its signiture from 4X% to 7X%```
its anti-radar weapon's effective range is over 180KM
its main ground and sea stricking weapons under stealth mode is SDB
its electronic warfare suite is a derivative from J-16's electronic warfare plane (dont know the exact designation yet)
so far it does not have a side weapon bay, WVR-missile can be stationed at the main weapon bay````however the export version does not have that capability, the WVR-missile is hanged on wings```

J-16 and J-15's electronic warfare fighter derivatives are more costly than J-20 and J-XX`````

based on all available infos, J-XX's radar, weapon, avionic system, stealth and aerodynamics are at the same level of F-35, some aspects are even better````however, the engine```well````the earliest date to have WS-19 would be around 2024-2025, and probably need another 3-5 years to achieve 110KN plus full thrust```

Did "pb" mention whether other branches of the PLAN (e.g. land-based air forces) will be using the J-XX?

Deino, maybe in the future book, you should change the Flanker photo with J-10 or J-20. Flanker is Russian, it doesn't give China any justification, although maybe there are a lot of Flanker derivative in China right now.

Thanks a lot for your comment and indeed I wanted to change that at first however what represents the steadily progressing forces and its ambitions best? A J-10AH, which is flown in only one regiment, yet again a J-11B or a MK2 as in Flashpoint China (http://www.harpia-publishing.com/galleries/FPCN/index.html) was not suitable ... an AEW or ASW type like the KJ-500 or KQ-200 was not attractive enough in the same way like a trainer or a bomber ... so in the end - and IMO best representing China's latest progress - was a carrier-borne type and that is still the J-15. The J-20 is regrettably not in Naval Aviation service ...

Anyway for the Vol. 2 on the PLAAF a J-20 is the cover plane.

You will be surprised Flanker may outlast J-10, JH-7A in service for PLAAF, PLANAF. There are rumours J-10 series will be completely stop. Short legged warplane are not suitable for PLA new modernized doctrine. Production for J-10 series are near to halt. 2 production lines of J-10 are convert to J-20 in CAC factory combined with current 2 lines. Meaning 4 production lines of J-20 may produced 96( Each line produces 24 J-20 per year) J-20 per year in 2018 or 2019.

Currently, the modernized PLA doctrine advocate J-16 and J-20 as the mainstay of PLAAF/PLANAF.

Rumors that J-10 productions will completely stop??? Are you serious? Please enlighten us ... I hope this doesn’t have anything to do with that J-10B argument. AFAIK, the J-10D program is progressing well; the PLAAF has even tested MATV on the J-10C. CAC is also incorporating stealth features. Do you have any evidence that the J-10 production line is “near to halt”?
