Chinese military chief makes first visit to Israel

It strikes me as a rare thing for Chinese to be concerned about another country's morals. Is this attitude something limited to Israel, or are there other examples?

Damn I was fully expecting a barrage of cut and paste propaganda sets extolling the virtues of the US and Israeli position and all I get is this.

Disappointed.

Can't do that without knowing what you consider virtuous, can I?

I'm sorry I was being facetious. I pretty much know what materials you have bookmarked away.

edit, though I am genuinely curious about something. Is this a share library of pro-Israeli articles covering a range of common arguments or did you have to gather all those articles yourself. Also a friendly hint, this little campaign of yours would look less contrived if you posted on issues not aimed at massaging public opinion towards Israeli interests at least once in a while.

Really? Examples?
How? Details?

These claims sound pretty weird to me. China doesn't have a problem with Jews now and to the best of my knowledge never has.

Chinese workers in Israel sign no-sex contract | World news | The Guardian

Israel also backstabbed China when under US pressure it withdrew from the AWAC sales contract and kept the cash.

Actually, we should thank Israel for giving our incompetent leaders a huge slap on the face and forcing us to create our own AWAC.

the 2 countries have in the past cooperated closely on defence-related things

it will be interesting to see how they go about re-establishing such close ties....even though the official did seem to imply it was a visit and 'nothing else'

from our point of view, this may be a good thing. But I'm not sure how the U.S./NATO will feel about it

I am surprised that China would like to have a close relationship with a country that is alleged to be ready to blow up the nuclear facilities of their closest friend!!

It is correct of China to be friends of all.

Hence, China has no extra friendly relationship with any, except maintain her own national interest.

Nothing unusual!

No potshots at anyone.

Just a reminder to all who get ecstatic over a wave by a leader as a great sign of endearment that there are no permanent friends or enemies, there are only permanent interests!

the plot was foiled, it was you people caught with your pants down...

thats a closed chapter now.

of course any country will maintain their own national interest....its a natural thing to do. I would EXPECT it of any nation.

the israelis are known for their edge in advanced civilian and military tech. Chinese should 'butter' them up a little bit, especially now that israel's God-father is seeing some fiscal difficulties.

These two specific contract disputes are about a decade old. Unless you can find more examples and more recent ones why would you think they reflect a systematic anti-Chinese bias?

The question is how can they much butter? Surely China can't replace USA's role for Israel, considering the fact China stays away from this whole global policeman thing.

a very valid point. It's also in the interests of all to ensure that their are good relationships with the neighbour countries as well; you should take that as a good reminder for yourself as well

again, goes down to interests.....China doesnt seem to want to be the global policeman. Why should they?

countries have their own internal issues and it really goes down to the countries themselves to sort out the issues INTERNALLY without foreign meddling and blackmail.

I meant from the perspective that is China capable or willing to offer the most important thing USA offers to Israel : Vetoing Resolutions critical of Israel
