What's new

Chinese Manga is coming...good ;)

So that was anime or manga ? :(

Do you have references about Chinese manga(comics) ? thanks
*with english translate

Anime is the Japanese version of Animation (They called it Anime while the West called Cartoon) While Manga are either a standalone comics (either of satirical nature (like Charlie Hebdo) or public service (Like loose lip sink ship comics) or published in a Comic Strip, which basically a story being told by drawing instead of video, words and/or animation.

Modern Day western terms are Cartoon for Anime and Comic for Manga. Both Anime and Manga were a word of Japanese Origin.

I'm glad to see that Chinese Animation is become more and more interesting, instead of watching Japanese animation, we can finally have our animation that incorporated Chinese culture and fantasy story line...and eventually we will compete with Japan in international stage.

Says who? You? Have you ever looked at a mirror before?

Yes, after adding a bit of black shade to it.
:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Our lovely Indian friends have a habit of becoming a butt joke lately. Poor guys.

Please read carefully
He said the "culture
In the history and culture, China is far more than Japan

Because Foreigners do not understand Chinese culture, including you
Too complicated . Westerners are used to simple plots. Westerners don't get twisted plots. Indians will have much harder time understanding.

One of the big strengths of Japanese manga is how it shows the common life or the real life of its characters. Hence in it characters say a lot of mundane things and do a lot of mundane things which makes the reader connect. If Chinese manga assumes its characters to be some high born nobility that contains no silver of imperfection then it will also lag behind Japanese manga like american comics. But a more real approach can beat the Japanese at their own game.

My 1st Chinese manhua series:

OMG, this is what I mean by Chinese media emphasizing substance over style (Japanese anime tends to do the polar opposite) and the results really show.

Sword Art Online Has A Chinese Knockoff That Does Things RIGHT: (watch in above link)

(Lol, Westerners thinking r very stuck in the 90's where China made cheap knock-offs just to gain industrial experience, but no longer the case...)

Also worth checking out:

Note that a big difference between Japanese and Chinese anime is the theme, and the audiences it is aimed at.

Where it almost certain that in Japanese anime, a series is aimed at a younger audience that are in their teens. One of the themes that often come back here is the highschool settings almost EVERY Japanese anime has. Around a good majority of Japanese series, you can't seem to go around the fact that highschool life, to at least a certain degree, is heavily involved as the setting in story development. Outside of that, this theme becomes less irrelivant, and becomes more out of place if you thread into more 'mature' topics. Code Geass is a great example of this, while overall a great series, the highschool setting of Ashford Academy didn't really combine with the overall theme of politics and war. As a matter of fact, if you would cut out all the 'happy friend' scenes and the time he was 'Lelouche Lamperouge', would it make that much of a difference to the overall story arcs?

Furthermore for the audience, the Japanese highschool theme and/or the 'character becoming stronger' themes were things that I could relate to as a teenager; teenage characters dealing with teenage character stuff in their teenage lives. Even in more mature series like Jormungand or Black Lagoon, there plenty of occassions that characters act well below their age, though they are supposed to be 20-30ish with pretty important positions. This stuff would be enjoyable if I was a teen, now that I am well into my twenties, not so much...

This is where Chinese series and Korean Manhwas do a better job in attracting a more mature audience. They are dealing with mature topics that concerns adults. The adult relationships apparently play a big role in Korean Manhwas, which is sometimes over the top, but still encapsulates some stuff you would have to deal with an (South-Korean) adult in his twenties. Surprisingly, adultery is a major topic: The ''Oh you have to work again? Well, I feel so neglected!'' or the ''A man and a woman can never be friends'' are recurring themes.

Quan Zhi Gao Shou is about a 25-year-old eSports gamer who gets kicked out of his team in favour of a younger and more prospective member, because he has passed his 'expiration' date as a professional player. Meanwhile, all this guy has known his whole life was playing and knowing the ins and outs of a video game... The character doesn't have an education or any particular labour skills aside from that. Therefore, he ends up penniless and is basically on the streets (if it weren't for a gracious internet cafe owner to provide him shelter at that moment) at the start of the series. That stuff is some cold hard reality that some of us as adults can all too well relate to.

Animation style gets worse every year.

Japanese animation from the 80s and 90s looks fantastic. Then it goes to shit.

I hope Chinese animators don't fall into the same problem as the Japanese ones.

Also Japanese studios have been outsourcing work to lower wage countries to maximize profits. Formerly these were Korea, Taiwan and even China. They usually did a decent jobs, but as the wages in these countries rose as well, studios like TOEI moved their animating work to countries that absolutely didn't have any experience whatsoever. If you have watched Dragon Ball Super, you would know that at several moments, the f*cking drawings and animation style were just outrageous... Quality did improve later on though, as the Philippinos eventually got the hang of it.

But this is what you get if you put profit maximization before artistic quality.

Ya Toei is crap. They ruined One Piece.

That's just cherrypicking. Obviously those are different anime with different themes. You don't use the anime style for Attack on Titans for an anime like Doraemon.

And i still cant stand to watch Chinese anime;p The language is not my type and hard to watch maby if there where Eng dub or Jap dub:omghaha: i would watch;p

Any one into Street Fighter? I was surprised when the last episode of The King's Avatar Featured Ken (Ye Qiu) vs Ryu (brawler boss char). I hear it's getting a live action TV drama too..

Here is the actual clip (spoilers alert):

IMO the brawler boss is 10x more stylish than Ryu. China always goes for the substance, but when style is needed, there is no comparison (vs Japanese style as China always wins this category hands down)...

(BTW, I couldn't find an ENG sub of the clip, but the link in the above quote will provide u with the full last ep with Eng subtitle...)
