Analysts at the research firm Gartner have come out and crowned Samsung as the most popular smartphone producer in China. The Korean manufacturer beat out others such as Nokia, Huawei, ZTE and Apple to score the title, and now boasts a rather impressive 24.3 percent market share in the country. While the iPhone 4S is portrayed as the most desired handset in China, Gartner suggests its limited availability with carriers played a large role in Samsung's achievement.

China is a strange place indeed, where Samsung crushes Apple 3 to 1 in sales and 30% of Italian luxury bags are sold to men.

Duh, everybody likes a cheap deal. If Apple was as cheap as Samsung there would be no competition.

It's all about the apps, how good is a gaming system without the games. And android is lame, iOS is better(popular opinion). "The New Apple Ipad"? They can't even name what they are comparing it to, and what do notebooks have to do with smartphones?

Apple didn't made a lot of push in China, iPhone's advantage in apps are diminished in Chinese language.

Also, the men who are buying luxury bags are obviously buying for their daughter or partner.

ipad 3 has a lot more juice under the hood with twice the screen resolution. Completely depends on the person, if you are into gaming and multimedia, get an ipad 3, if you would like to take notes then go for the note. I prefer the playbook of blackberry myself, you can bridge it with your blackberry phone and your blackberry phone becomes the keyboard and you can use the INTERNET off your blackberry without getting an additional service like you have to with your ipad or samsung. it is also more portable and open as much apps you want. Its a better all around business and messaging device.

Apple doesn't offer any support for flash player that's a big draw back. Even in the new ipad aka ipad3 there wont be any flash player.

I only use Chinese brands.

BBK, Huawei, next phone probably gonna be Xiaomi or Meizu. I dropped my BBK dumb phone 10 times on concrete floors while showering or playing basketball since 2006 and its still going strong, so I trust Chinese brand phones. iPhones have glass components, I could NEVER drop them 10 times on concrete floors and expect it to not shatter.

I am currently saving up for galaxy tab 10.1 they are quite impressive and overall can be modified unlike ipad which feels like a prison

You can get ZTE phones in UK(branded as San Francisco and Monte Carlo by orage).
It is not same as apple or even samsung though, dont compare apple with orange.(could not resist saying that)
