My own strategy of investing as a public investor in the emerging market is the emerging market excluding China. I don't think public investors would gain much from the growth of China companies. It is mostly a territory of private equities that have insider information and government ties. Public investors are often left in the dark. Although some of them will grow spectacularly for sure, that boom is unlikely shared by public investors. We, to them, are more like ATMs than shareholders.

yes, Kandi has a car to sell but it doesn't look like they have had much success in China either. Seems their revenue is slightly over $10M a year.
