You are in an awkward situation where your culture is too distinct from the Himalayan Tibetans, your ethnicity is too different from Indians and you have a historical grudge against the Burmese. If you want to save your womenfolk from the Indians -- the biggest threat to you -- you need the help of both China and Burma. Bury the historical grudge against Burma and transform your Hindu practices into something more like Tibetan Buddhism would help. Good luck!
NE is a christian province by now including Manipur(52% christian ).
Like I already said the hinduism that prevails in NE is not like Mainland. Only Assam is dominated by hindu which are mostly immigrants and in manipur , the people are first and foremost sanamahi than HINDU or CHRISTIAN like I said. Sanamahi is actually like shinto religion in trait and even similar to your chinese traditions, very oriental in every aspect. The Sanamahi that meetei people practices is a very refined spiritual based religion ,it doesn't have any fanatical aspect like in some other major religion or the toxicity that entails those.Meetei people also practices ancestor worship,dragon (pakhangba) worship ,elemental worship . Sanamahi is more of a lifestyle and very spiritual based, different than typical hindu idol worship system.Sanamahi teaches use to live in coexistance with nature and other living beings,it is like a life lession that encourages us to act as a precedent for our future generation . We believe in human spirit and equality for women. So we have more women than men in our state .
Manipur/mizoram/nagaland would have been like the safest place for woman but the crimes against women there are mainly committed by the Indian Army and the mainland immigrants .In manipur/mizoram there are more woman than men, since we are so female empowering.
Buddhism is not a native indigenous religion of tibet either . The concept of throwing away our own indigenous and refined culture for a foreign and more queer religion would be wrong. What if chinese were asked to part with TAOISM and adopt pure buddhism instead? Would chinese agree?
And Nagaland,manipur mizoram has such unique traditional culture.Nagaland & mizoram have very tribe centric indigenous culture . Manipur is like a totally different culturally ,as soon as their the boys and girls reaches 10 years they are generally indulged by their family in practice of martial arts(thang ta), traditional laiharaoba dance and other cultural recreation as important character building aspect, they are like totally different and extremely cultured .NE is an epicenter of the indigenous populace with unique traditions and the people therein are simply seeking protection from noxious politics of GOI and human right abuses . The matter of religion should be of no concern here.
