What's new

China's "little India"

It is not just Europeans who are complaining. A report by American Enterprise Institute -

...between November 2007 and May 2008, ninety-five Americans died from heparin believed to have been "deliberately contaminated" in China.

Even with the new guidelines, however, "China still [lagged] behind the United States... and even India" in quality standards, Cheng Shuguang, general manager of the drug division at Zhejiang Jingxin Pharmaceutical Company, said.

AEI - The Problems and Potential of China's Pharmaceutical Industry

.
A) That publication was released by Ian Harper and Roger Jeffery of University of Edinburgh, not by some "Nepal pro-India" media.

B) The 75% figure was released by European Commission, not by OECD.

C) And that figure was specifically in reference to fake medicines in Europe, not the entire world.

D) And.. that figure was specifically in reference to 2005 findings.

E) In 2008, Switzerland was the largest source of fake medicines followed by India. The figure for India dropped from 75% to 35%.

Financial Express : India is 2nd largest exporter of fake medicines to EU ...

F) According to European Commission, while India might account for most fake drugs, "over half of the fake goods confiscated at EU borders came from China."

EUobserver / Fake goods seized at EU borders up 125%

To be precise, 60% of all fake goods in Europe are made in China -

China accounts for 60% of the EU’s fake goods NEW EUROPE - The European News Source

Nice try, BTW. :)

Tell me why no other media post this article ?

Yeah, I really believe India's media will give up such a chance to get

India' fake drugs bad name back on the right track !!

You simply can't fool anyone with such crap !!

See, everytime when you Indians lost in a debate, you started to troll,

If you looking for a hurting game instead of a healthy debate, you are

most welcome. You know very well who will end up being the loser.

AEI - The Problems and Potential of China's Pharmaceutical Industry

".....believed to be....."

DO you know how many harmful drugs, chemicals, etc USA exports? Do you know J&J (Johnson & Johnson) products contained extremely high levels of carciogenic chemicals, and was BANNED in China?

Let's not forget BHOPAL in India, or DOW in Viet Nam.

There are a LOT MORE "problems" in USA "pharmaceutical cos".

Please try to be more fair and constructive. Do realize India will be better off with China, rather than being a 'tool'.:cheers:

Basically Raug, we don't want to be "enemies" with you. Please don't provoke hostilities, its not healthy for the mind and soul. Look at England, 24/7 there's negativity (and nation-bashing) on BBC. See how it has affected the people's outlook on life there. Gloom. Fear. Hate. Ignorance.

I love to travel. And when I do I pay attention to news and TV in different countries. Because I can speak and understand several languages I have a wider world view. I can honestly tell you, media in so-called "dictatorships" (LOL) and "censored" (LOL again) are so much more OPEN-MINDED and LESS hate-filled than western-jewish media. :)

Huh? Why are you lying? How are EUobservor and NEWEUROPE a part of Indian media?

And if you have a problem with Financial Express, then read these non-Indian sources -

EAASM - European Alliance for Access to Safe Medicines
Switzerland overtook India as the main fake medicines exporter to the EU.

http://74.125.113.132/search?q=cach...rugs+india+35+and+39&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us

Clearly says that India's share declined from 75% in 2005, to 31% in 2006 and 35% in 2007.

Below is the link of the official European Commission report for 2007 -
http://ec.europa.eu/taxation_custom...ontrols/counterfeit_piracy/statistics2007.pdf

The above mentioned link clearly says China accounts for 57.92% of fake goods while India accounts for 2.71%. The only fake commodity for which India even features among the top 10 nations is medicine. China is the largest source of fake clothes, shoes, computer equipment, CDs and DVDs, Jewelery, Toys and other items (see page 20).

and for 2006 -
http://ec.europa.eu/taxation_custom...t_piracy/statistics/counterf_comm_2006_en.pdf

If you have some legitimate counter-points, go ahead. Don't waste my time by making silly personal rants.

Ruag ignoring a bee rather than swatting it is a better option here.Good arguments by the way

What's to fight? If China is building a software 'little India' like park, good for them. It's competition for India, and it's the way of the world.

Not commenting on the drugs side debate, but I am not a critic of companies producing cheaper versions of high value products, provided they can scale it up. Typically, many manufacturing nations have done precisely that.

Till the 60s Japanese products used to be scorned in the West because they were cheap shoddy imitations. And, in the 80s Korean cars were regarded as pieces of $hit in the US.

But they improved; how they improved!

Thing is, manufacturers move up the value chain, and some Chinese companies are going to do just that with a few decades or less of experience.

It's what India is trying to do now in software.

Hope next time when Indians wants to bash others for fake drug, do

look into the mirror first.

Thanks for beating up a good will person, If i mean any harm to you,

I would have reported it. Some Weid Indian logic. :smitten:

:pakistan::china:

Lolz you should have told this to the country men too..In case you didn't notice your friend started all these fake drug bashing

The bashing of the Indian pharma industry in the west is based on a fear, the fear of cheap Indian medicine swarming the developing world, especially Africa. Apparently Indian aids medicine from companies such as Ranbaxy costs 50% less than those produced by Western companies, obviously they can't compete. So now and again we hear claims of copyright infringement, substandard practices, fake medicine, etc etc etc in the western media.

I'm glad you understand this fact. Now isn't that what US + Europe (+ India) is doing as well regarding China/Asia? Yes. Yes it is.

Sure, competition is a fact-of-life. But, please don't stoop so low as to do the same. :china::cheers::smitten::angel:
