HONG KONG—The sharp slowdown in China’s growth in the past year is prompting many experts to reconsider when China will surpass the U.S. as the world’s largest economy—or even if it ever will.

Until recently, many economists assumed China’s gross domestic product measured in U.S. dollars would surpass that of the U.S. by the end of the decade, capping what many consider to be the most extraordinary economic ascent ever.

But...

It’s an embarrassment everyday that China with 4x the population of the US is still unable to surpass US GDP. The average American is far more productive than the average Chinese.

.
China is already ahead of US and has been so for some time on PPP basis

.
Dollar based GDP number is becoming meanlessly since US keeps printing money, key elements of real GDP should be the total volume of trade, industrial and manufacturing output and productivity, all of these sectors China is already far far ahead of US and everyone else.

.
China will surely one day surpass US in GDP but will never beat US on per capita

And living standards. China has higher living standards than the US.

US GDP per capita will reach 1 million USD per person per year shortly driven by money printing.

Haha, China doesnt need to overtake the US. The US will just collapse, of course, not overnight.

Not to mention that China may have taken the US economically long time ago, and just a deliberately controlled exchange rate makes it look smaller, nominally.

When San Francisco looks third world and Pyongyang looks first world, what to say.

Do not keep ranting that why people still want to go to the US. Of course, from other fellow democracies of the US. And a lot of them may die to live in China as well, if China opened their border and embraced the not-so-smart multi cultural ideology like the US.

LOL, not too long ago, the OP was cheering that US grew GDP more than China, in dollar terms. He just took those superficial numbers a little too seriously. Silly.

Imagine you are playing monopoly and player B is nearly gaining as much money as player A but player A gets to print money. Do you understand this concept genius? Lol. You think US is worried about Chinese military? They are more worried about a RMB trading system bozo.

Money printing can help them get over difficulties short term, but it also slowly deprieves their capability to make and produce, it's a poison that will eventually kill them.
