China's CASC inaugurates military rocket innovation centre

The China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC) has inaugurated a 'strategic rocket innovation centre' to drive capability development in indigenous defence technologies, the Chinese government has said.

A statement on 12 January by China's State Administration for Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense (SASTIND) - the principal government agency for defence industry development - said the new CASC centre will support the country's "national security objectives and the development of national defence science and technology innovation".

SASTIND added that the rocket innovation centre would be tasked with collaborating with other national research centres, academia, and industry in developing rocket technologies for military applications.

国防科技工业战略火箭创新中心揭牌成立

日前，中国航天科技集团公司一院举行了国防科技工业战略火箭创新中心成立大会暨揭牌仪式。

此次创新中心揭牌成立标志着一院在国家级创新平台建设上取得重要突破，将为实现国家安全战略目标和国防科技创新发展提供重要支撑。

该创新中心同时联合国内相关具有优势的科研院所、高等院校作为理事会成员单位，形成开放共享的创新平台。

该创新中心负责人表示，作为支撑国防安全宏观决策、顶层规划和系统创新的国家级研究力量，创新中心将致力于提出合理科学的战略火箭运用及发展战略，构建系统齐备的产品体系、技术体系和能力体系;将集聚各方优势资源与力量，为创新中心发展提供保障;将对标国家实验室建设要求，在政策研究、技术研发、管理研究、体制机制等方面率先开展创新工作。

揭牌仪式前，创新中心召开了理事会首次会议，审议了创新中心章程和专家委员会名单。
