'China will be 2nd most powerful nation by 2050'

what one has got to respect and admire is the innate Chinese sense of humility...I find the Chinese national character - with this wonderful expression of humility - to be in sharp contrast to many of the more arrogant powers we have seen in the recent past.
TL, do you think the Tibetans are impressed with Chinese "humility" when they see their native land swamped by millions of Han immigrants?

At least they (tibetans) now have better standards of living and better life opportunities.

They're not immigrants, it's our land.

On the other hand, the US is a land of immigrants - immigrants who conquered and enslaved the rightful owners of the land.

I don't think China is currently the second most powerful country.

The Chinese military may have the manpower, equipment and hardware and might be a formidable force in it's own back yard, but what about beyond?

Can China project this power far from its shores and borders in the way that other powers such as UK, France or even Russia can (nevermind the US)?

The answer is currently no; maybe in 5-10 years perhaps, but not now.

Bro, in a conventional war. America can pretty much best any country.

What use is "winning" when the difference between winning and losing becomes nominal only? A strategic win is both winning, and not losing. If you've won, but also lost so much in the process that your relative position has declined (significantly), then you've lost too.

Tibet is a part of China, so if people with Han descent choose to go there it shouldn't be troublesome to you. Maybe you should be more concerned about the millions of Russian, Polish, German and other "immigrants" who swamped the Palestinians' native land and threw them into concentration camps?

The govt is certainly not humble with its actions.

Their diplomacy has also been lacking of late, they need to reign in their diplomats from saying things like in this China-Japan Spat and Asia-Pacific Region’s 21st Century

even if this jingoism is popular with their own people it only hurts their goals of a region looking to them for security and stability.

You're incredibly naive if you think that China-Japan relations characterize China's approach to world affairs. There is a lot of history as far as that particular relationship goes. The Koreans also have visceral reactions with respect to Japan... and those too are associated with the relatively recent and completely inhumane occupation of Korea by Japanese forces.

In general, China has dealt with countries as an equal. It has strictly pursued a policy of non-interference. This is in marked contrast to some other powers, who invade and kill hundreds of thousands of people in countries thousands of miles away from their own shores to spread "freedom" (aka securing energy resources).

China has developed relations with over a dozen African countries and is obtaining raw materials from them, but they are all *happy* to be collaborating with China. Why? Because they are not arm twisted. They can manage their own affairs and get help from China in areas where they *ask* for help. They are not being forced and coerced.

It is quite appropriate to close this discussion with a famous Kissinger quote.

The Big Apple: “It may be dangerous to be America’s enemy, but to be America’s friend is fatal”

So far, none of China's friends have found it to be either dangerous or fatal to extend friendship to China.

You all realised that the article is for intended for the yanks so that they will feel safe and sound to do another round of QE in a big big way and think that China is not prepared for their default?

Also, New Mexico and California (Mexican lands) are still under American occupation.

But Zionists and Americans are the "good guys". Don't you know that the good guys always have the right to invade and plunder other nations' lands?

Goods guys uphold justice, they never do evil thing. Unfortunately there is some thing called Wikileaks popped out from no where.

You acknowledge that Han Chinese are a separate nationality yet assert "Tibet is a part of China". That makes China imperialist, is that not so?

Shall we compromise by labeling China a "humble imperialist"?
