China welcomes Indian PM's comments on bilateral ties

China on Tuesday welcomed Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's recent remarks that relations between New Delhi and Beijing are quite good and that he was convinced that Chinese leadership was committed for peaceful resolution of disputes.

"We have taken note of the statement by Prime Minister Singh. As important neighbours to each other, China and India have maintained sound momentum in the bilateral relationship", Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Jiang Yu told a media briefing here on Tuesday reacting to Singh's comments.

She said China is ready to work with India to enhance "China-India strategic partnership".

"As for the border issue left over from history, the two sides have been seeking a fair, reasonable and mutually acceptable solution through friendly consultations", she said. "Pending a final solution, the two sides are committed to maintaining peace and tranquility in border areas," she said.

On October 20, Singh while commenting on India-China ties blamed the media for playing up differences on the border issues, while the overall relations between the two were quite good.

"Despite the persistence of the border problem, both countries have agreed that peace and tranquility should be maintained along the border.

"Therefore, by and large, sometimes something appears in the newspapers in our country, something appears in the newspapers in China, that I think invites comments, but overall our relations are quite good," Prime Minister had said.

Singh said he had good working relations with Chinese President Hu Jintao and his counterpart Wen Jiabao and he was convinced that the top leadership of China wanted peaceful resolution of all problems between the two nations.

Positive comments by both sides came as the two countries geared up for the next round of Special Representative talks to resolve the border dispute to be held in New Delhi. The talks will be held between National Security Advisor, Shivshankar Menon and top Chinese diplomat Dai Bingguo.

The two sides have so far held 14 rounds of talks. After the last round talks here Menon said the sides made steady progress.

MORAL OF THE STORY

Both the giants share good relations ,its the media of both sides that creates some differences .

Words are of no use . Manmohan Singh and his spineless , gutless display will doom all Indian interests. Hope another 2 years of fruitless talks go on ...until NDA and someone like Modi/Nitish can come to the centre. J.N Dixit was a tough guy , Dai Bunguo respected him. But Menon Sahab :hitwall: ...

A well developed countrys always wants peace with neighbours but third world country wants only war thats what different...

We are well aware of that...
as it quoted often..
keeps ur friends close and ur enemies even closer.

Anyways there are no permanent enemies or friends when we talk about countries ...its all based on reciprocity.

The key word here being Reciprocity

A very intelligent comment. There are no permanent friends or enemies, only permanent national interests.

I do not see any thing wrong with the official Indian policy. We are a peace loving nation and bear no ill will towards any one. We should talk of peace always while, at the same time we should prepare for war. This is what we are doing.

yeah yeah !!!! the NDA will be the best government because they in the congress are weak and spineless. !!!:disagree:
give me a break . its because of an ongoing dialogue process that things have not deteriorated into a game of one oneupmanship , which we faced in 1962.
do you really think that if the NDA or any one else comes to power , the policies of the present will change? we always were and are a pragmatic people , who look at progress and then at conflict . when politicians shout at the top of their voices that the government is not looking at the defense of the country or not taking a hard enough stand . one should take it with a pinch of salt . for when they come to power they too will do the same .

Thts one thing im glad about in our political system... they keep the ball rolling no matter who comes in power.
This shows that our people know the value of stability in decision making.

This way external forces can not influence different parties, as all of us a pretty much a cohesive unit when it comes to national interests.

The exact contradiction can be seen in Pakistan where the rulers keep changing thre agenda in accordance to there personal delusions...
look what it got them.

People are forever looking for shadows , and if you stare too hard in the dark you are bound to 'see' some.

India & China are two nations destined to grow.being neighbours who have been to war decades ago there are bound to be some ' let over' grudges - we are Asians after all.

Luckly , its economics and not sentiment that dictates both Govts. Such hicups will happen and shall get solved.
