What's new

China vs. USA

Per capita GDP China is still far behind US, but China is catching up, besides, China prospered for less than a decade, people still need time to digest what China is like now, this will take some time. Another important issue is China's not friendly policies to foreigners, it's extremely hard for foreigners to live in China long term, and China doesn't naturalize non Chinese citizens.

China is only for the Chinese. USA is for all the world. Big difference. :D

. .
America is a stolen land anyway, new world is supposed to be for everyone from the old world.

LOL. That old trope doesn't work, since USA welcomes everyone from all over the world to be the best they can be. It even has a diversity visa, look it up. :D

China remains a xenophobic closed society that is racist to its core.

.
The videos are naked proof of where both countries are.

If this does not demonstrate the rise of China and the increasingly worsening situation in the US, then what can you say about people being selectively blind.

The US should at least take a page from maintaining law and order like the Chinese do. Too many thugs and miscreants in the US nowadays.
Here is a thirty year snapshot of the crime rate in the US. The crime rate was much higher in the 1990's despite the 2020 post COVID spike. So how does one conclude the US is declining based on a lower crime rate in the 2020 vs the 1990's?

The 1990's is probably when you immigrated to the US but you still choose to adopt the US as your home - despite the high crime rate. Strange then that 20 plus years later you highlight the crime problem on PDF instead of doing something about it in the real world. The crime rate in authoritarian states is lower, Qatar and the UAE rank #1 and #2, no surprise really since these states rarely worry about trivialities such as human rights and due process. In smash and grab states, the crime is classified as a misdemeanor. So a smash and grab opportunist, if caught; walks away with nothing more than a slap on the wrist. Whose fault is that? its your elected officials who made that choice and your voting choice that enabled these crimes. So next time make a better choice and in the interim you have several real world options, tough love for your elected official, social activism, public campaigns, and legal action against these officials. If you feel so strongly you could even stand for elections and make a real difference.None of the above is possible in utopian China.

But here you are extolling the virtues of an authoritarian society wanting to turn the US into a dystopian nightmare. Here is a hint for your, China is far from perfect. often it's government or party workers that are doing the "smash and grab". There are hundreds of reports of lockdown enforcement officials breaking into homes and stealing private property some even club pets to death. Hundreds of reports of common people being frozen out of their own bank accounts. Hundreds of reports of the state denying its citizens access to public services based on social credit scores OR simply hukou. Private property including homes, vehicles or merchandise appropriated by officials on a whim - just because they can, without consequence.

The US for all its flaws will never emulate China, if you want that kind of society you are better off immigrating to China, but you won't and you can't even if you wanted to. You can never be Chinese, you will never be accepted into their society or have any hope of achieving the level of prosperity you currently enjoy in the US.

Where did you learn so called "hundreds‘’ of those incidents instead of just some isolated cases which the government soon apologized and compensated for the lose and swiftly punished officials involved? you are just talking baseless nonsense.

😂 😂 I don't know what"consequences" you are talking about, in some "democratic" countries, police carry big stick and guns to beat and shoot people on regular everyday law enforcement with impunity and in China, officers get suspended even for using "inapproriate and uncivilised languge".

Tibet police officer suspended and under investigation for using inapproriate , uncivilized language when carrying duty

A police officer lost his temper after his 2 failed attempts to block 3 motorists from driving on a restricted section of a highway in Tibet and started shouting and yelling at the motorists the 3rd time he stopped them " This is Tibetan autonomous region, not your fcking home, don't you understand human language? I warned you several times and why you never listened? this section of highway is very dangerous and not long ago some one died not far from here, you leave your home and travel in Tibet and your lives and security is my liability now?" After this footage being released on the Chinese social media, the officer involved was being suspended for using inappropiate launguage when carrying duty and the case was being under investigation.

Dozens of Chinese police officers risk their lives trying to catch a mad driver, He was later detained but physically unharmed. What would happen to this dirver if it happened in US?

Is Xi Jinping also delusional when he said he will go after 老虎 and 苍蝇. Years later, senior party officials 老虎 and workers 苍蝇 are still being prosecuted or disciplined for corruption and abuse of power. If there is no corruption or abuse of power in China then what are these people being punished for?

Tell me one human country where there is no corruption, are you serious? Xi set the top priority fighting corruption, but only fools will believe that means he can magically erase all corruption in this 1.4 billion people country.

Thanks for writing the lengthy piece. We have to agree to disagree about this. I have two suggestions for you.

1. Start watching the news and see what is happening in the real world. It's clear you don't see the societal decline as clearly as I do.

2. Catch a flight to China and see for yourself what China is really like instead of frequenting sources like 4Chan.

I have been in the US for a while and I am acting locally for improving law and order, let's just keep it at that.

I have noticed this mindset among some groups specifically who are of lower income groups where they make every effort to blame USA for all of its problems and ills

Bangladeshis in America in higher poverty

In 2019, Asian Americans had a poverty rate of 10%, 3 percentage points lower than the overall US poverty rate (13%).

But incidence of poverty was found to be relatively higher among Bangladeshi Americans (19%).

Number of Bangladeshi-Americans surges by 263% in two decades

There is delusion among such people there merely immigrating to USA one will magically become a millionaire because USA is rich country

When reality strikes them of their inability to pull themselves out of the cycle of poverty due poor language skills/vocational skills/educational qualification, they blame USA for it.

My experience in USA for last 5 years is basic Americans like any other people on this planet working very very hard to support their families and this hardwork has a high chance to pay off in the long run than other nations due more opportunities being there in USA.

One company where I was interning had a Bangladeshi owner told me how he started off as a 7/11 employee and made it to Senior Manager in Deloitte. Stories how as he as an intern he would have fetch coke for his Seniors

Another IT Audit company, a middle class Caucasian women during her maternity leave finished her MBA so that she could be promoted to partner. She proudly mentioned to me she went to her classes on weekends while being pregnant with her daughter

People like OP just want to freeload/whine/complain.

Both China and the US have terrible social economic inequality. The difference is in the trajectories. Whereas in China, the government is actively trying to reduce inequality by investing in public goods like infrastructure, education, healthcare and rural poverty alleviation, in the US, inequality is getting worse every year and the elites give no fucks because they don’t see the poor as their own people whether culturally or ethnically.

On 2, I've been to China I think at least 20 times my last visit was late 2019, I know Chinese that currently live in China. I know Chinese that live and work in the west. As for societal decline, the US was always a violent society. Going back to the 1800s when my ancestors immigrated to the US from Scandinavia. Interestingly, some of them kept journals and newspapers clippings preserving current events of concern to them at the time. Crime and violence in the 1800s was an order of magnitude worse than it is today. It is to be expected when immigrants both legal and illegal arrive and some resort to criminal activity to make a living. Read about the Five Points, Manhattan 1840s, to get a sense of how bad crime was back then. Sure there is social injustice and discrimination that is a contributing factor and there are no second chances. Once you have a criminal record there is almost no turning your life around it becomes a permanent impediment to upward mobility. The US isn't an equal just society it never was, people with money and means have always had the upper hand.
