China vs. India: Will the “contest of the 21st century” lead to war?

A little sad but "hopefully" not true...

There is an old Chinese proverb...
一山不容二虎

Literally: One mountain cannot abide two tigers.
一山不容二虎 (traditional and simplified, Pinyin yī shān bù róng èr hǔ)

Meaning:
There can only be one alpha male.
This town isn't big enough for the two of us.

Let saner heads and humane hearts prevail.........

Some clashes are inevitable between two giants . But both parties will refrain from full blown war.

Asia doesn't have the proper mechanisms to prevent border conflicts from escalating into full-blown wars.

That's why we were supposed to have talks recently, about implementing a proper "border mechanism". But India turned down the talks.

I feel sorry for India. Global warming is going to wipe out India's agriculture in 20-30 years as it messes with the monsoon by decreasing the temperature gradient between sea and land, increases the prevalence of disease, drowns out India's low lying areas with sea level increases, as well as toxic pollution from electronic waste processing, shipbreaking, mining and heavy industry (which in China would be highly focused on strategic areas and using low cost processes, unlike India which would be forced to replicate high cost processes).

India also would be competing for coal and oil that China will need, but China already has better plans for moving away from coal and oil, just as India is stepping up its coal and oil investments.

Cool story bro.

This tiger doesn't need to fight your tiger though. Our tigers are separated by a cage, and while our side of the cage is suffering from localized droughts and cold, the tiger is making a stove and bringing in a water line.

Your tiger on the other hand, is feeling the heat getting turned up, and the response is to bury his head in the sand, even as the eagles and bears are shitting right in your cage.

You should be glad that China gives you the opportunity to live here, otherwise you'd be in India, where you have a 70% chance of being in severe poverty.

wow
nice to know that china will be immune from global warming
now coming back to reality:P
both the countries [infact all the countries] will have to work together for sustainable devolopement especially Chinaa and India given their huge populations:tup:

Here's some more information on how India will be affected by severe weather and global warming.

So China doesn't have to war with India for India to feel the heat, pardon the pun. We just have to sit back and let nature and the bankers from Goldman Sachs (if they still exist) do their job.

It's just one of many hurdles. A temporary obstacle. Hope both countries will back on talk track. it will be painfully procedure but it's worth.

the earth doesnt have unlimited resources so at some point both the tigers .......err.... countries will have to fight:sniper:for them
unless they start mining from other planets and come across some massive source of energy:pop:

No one is going to do sustainable development, unfortunately. The Americans love their fatass lifestyle too much, and everyone wants at least a share of that fatass lifestyle. That means oil, hell yeah.

Only Asian countries have the density to install mass transit. India does, but apparently Indian leaders think that civil aviation and private cars are more profitable and superior to high speed rail.

Therefore, with global warming, you're stuck with a geographic gamble. Where you were born will determine if you survive or not.

I predict that India won't be the first to feel the heat though. The sub-Saharan Africans are REALLY doomed.

Unless India can compete against China in Africa, then India is basically boxed in and won't be competing any time soon.

that will undoubtedly be a big problem
unfortunately basic human activities like war, greed ignorance and penchant for power will ultimately result in doom for human civilization
