Beijing has filed a protest to the French authorities following the killing of the country's national in Paris by a French police officer, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said Tuesday.

BEIJING (Sputnik) — On Sunday, the Chinese citizen was killed in a standoff with French police in Paris. On Tuesday, the Chinese Embassy in France confirmed the citizenship of the man, whose death had already caused protests against police brutality and mass detentions.

"The foreign ministry pays special attention to the incident. Just after the case, the ministry demanded the Chinese Embassy in France to launch a mechanism of actions in case of emergencies and filed a protest to the French side," Hua said.

She added that Beijing had demanded Paris to take steps to protect safety and rights of Chinese nationals in France.

According to the spokeswoman, the ministry would monitor the development of the situation.

Earlier in the day, French media reported that Paris police had arrested 35 people after a rally by the capital's Asian community over the murder of a Chinese man by a policeman turned violent.

Let's see the two versions of what happened according to the family and the Police.

Police ;

Police officers were called to the family home in the wake of a family disagreement.
According to the police, Mr Liu was shot and killed after he rushed to assault one of the officers as soon as the door was opened and injured one officer. The other officer opened fire to defend his colleague and fatally shot Mr Liu. The injured officer was directly rushed to hospital,with non-life threatening injuries.

Family ;

One of Mr Liu's children stated that they heard a knock at the door and when looked at the hole,saw two armed officers,a man and a woman. Their father came to the door with the scissors he was using to take care of the fish he was cooking. They added that the knocking on the door became stronger and shouted "Calm down,make less noise". According to them the officers smashed the door,the shot was gone and the father found himself on the ground.

Seems legit.

so the mr lui attacked the officer and was shot by his colleague.
we need to know how my lui attacked the officer. if it was with a knife or a gun then the shooting is justified. if it was with a stick or bat then a taser is in order. honestly same would apply with a knife to as shown here

im kind off surprised french police came to the house with a gun in the first place.
the only time you need guns if if you suspect the suspect has a gun or heavily armed.

Apparently,the Police had to force their entry after hearing children screaming in the house. Then a man on his 50s rushed to the officers and attacked one officer with scissors. The officer was injured under the arm,near the ribs and then his colleague opened fire and fatally shot Mr Liu. Mind you,scissors can be as dangerous as many people commited murder with them.

You probably forgot that we are not like the UK where most officers don't carry gun at all and call for armed response teams if needed. :P
French police officers are permanently armed. They were probably not armed with tasers.

well........i dont know tbh then, personally it could have been avoided with a taser.

i dont know how french police are compared to british police but i assume there more unforgiving, and with the terror attacks that happened i would have expected main city cops to be armed but not callout cops for family disputes.
we call armed police (trojans) if theres a high risk of injury by weapon.

Taser should be a"must" for every policeman... Pointing your gun like a cowboy will not make the situation better... and now the "police municipal" want to be armed... poor France... give them a Taser, that way they gonna enjoy their "statut/s"...

Please list a proven reliable case of "an oversea Chinese ever attacked a cop in XXX country by an knife". France got a big problem, she is stimulating birth of Chinese terrorist group underground in France, I bet that policeman will be killed mysteriously someday, somewhere.

Why would a person instantly attack an armed police offer, with a pair of scissors of all things?

Doesn't every kitchen in the world have a knife?
It's not like this hasn t happened before.The injuries suffered by the police officer makes this an opened,shut case ,imo.

No, not like ISIS, or TALIBAN, it's more like mafia. The Chinese immigrants in Europe typically have very close tie of family, hometown, they typically speak same dialect, have relative isolated business work, if a family member, esp father or mother was killed innocently, they will revenge, I can not 100% guarantee this, but most likely. they already have gangs in argentina, japan.

It's France here... You have some sort of "good" justice. So we gonna wait what the "official" case is and then if the Policeman was in the wrong , he will "mostly" be punished. ofc the punishment is not heavy, (tbh it will be very very light)... Anyway.. no revenge killing for that type of incident.

injury does not prove anything valid, he can stab himself. the key factor here is, i can not understand the motivation to attack an armed policeman in his own house.
