It happens, but it is quite rare.

Here in HK, I have never even seen any of that stuff being served, let alone eaten.

I did have some snake soup once though. I didn't like the flavouring, but the meat itself is decent enough.

That's one thing but cats, dogs and insects is quite another.

True, much more exotic stuff is available in some places in China, but you would have to specifically look for it.

I myself have visited Taiwan twice in last 2 years & i've not seen cats or dogs being served, but i've seen FROGS being served openely in night markets... other than that I LOVE THAT PLACE

Are you saying that it would have been harder to commit the alleged crime if he had chosen to eat cow, chicken or any traditional meat dish ?

What kind of snake is that ? Is is it a special kind ?

I don't know, I was invited as I would not order snakes by myself. I think they told me that the more poisonous the snake the better it tastes. In Japan I was invited to eat Fugu fish, one of the most poisonous creature on earth and it was delicious.
