China tops, India last, in list of 12 nations important to US: Poll

US giving out its status quo is not the factor here,ur assessment of a cold war type showdown is never gona happen,if even u consider so,the Chinese block will be heavily outnumbered by the American camp, and mind it american camp means powerful influential and rich nation's(arabs,Europe, and almost half of asia)not some 3rd rate countries, which was never the essence of a USA/USSR showdown which was evenly matched.

lol, many Western nations are now economically crippled, do you really think they can afford this $hit right now? Unless they really want to damage China by suicidal attacks.

Last month China just milked out the very last top technology in Europe, they were hesitating to sell this to anyone, even to their closest ally, but now in this very moment they have just sold these goods to us without a blink of eyes.

Who says that there is going to be a "showdown"?

Both the Chinese and American governments are talking about increasing cooperation in an interconnected world. Even talk of a "G2".

China and the USA are economically interconnected (unlike USA-USSR relations), so how could there be a Cold war.

USSR is long dead anyway, too bad for Indians.

USSR never posed any real threat to USA, except in military.

Now USA is scared that China will beat them in their own game.

That is true, the USSR had a constantly shrinking GDP.

They were never viable in the long-term. Their real strength is in their large number of nukes.

USSR has stagnated economy growth during the late 1970s, USA already known that Soviet won't last for more than another decade. They already had a long term plan to dismember USSR.

Now facing with China, they don't even have any clue how far China could go. How they are trying to tarnish China with every dirty tactics, this shows how scared and weak they are actually.

I personally think it is not that bad, this makes the weakened Russia being more dependent on India when facing a much stronger China.

Same during the 1990s, they are virtually selling many of their military assets to us just in exchanging for cash.

^^^^^^
thats why india moving towards west while maintaining required relationships with russia.

Yep, we basically have outstripped them in every fields in the military, with an economy 4-5 times bigger and the gap keeps widening. That's why they are so upset about us now. And they must have been very regretful of helping us to build up our military industry during the 1950s and selling weapons to us during the 1990s.

In my opinion, Russia should stop being paranoid about its long gone Superpower status, more sincere corporation with China would help them to improve their economy further.
