China to induct JF-17 Thunder!

China won't do such a thing they as a large country have different requirements than Pakistan and plus JF-17 has foreign components.

It actually makes sense to use the JFT to replace J7, some J8 and a few other regiments. Primarily if you induct the JFT for "internal" regiments that usually stay inside China, I think for each J-10A or B, you can get two JFT's with similar multi-role capability but with less payload. I think it makes a lot of sense.

It'll save up a lot of $$$$. For external facing regiments, you guys can use heavier and higher tech planes like the J10, J11, J16, etc.
lets say it "makes sense" to Chinese now and they are totally "sold" to the idea
some observations I have

what about the 3 other non 5th generation projects China is already running (J11, J16, J10)
how would a logistical & maintenance nightmare of keeping such a complex mix of so many jets will be cost effective?
why would China need "internal regiments" when America has create a semi circle around it.

for Pakistan it makes perfect sense because it is essentially moving towards 2 jet types. F-16 and JF-17 (replacing Mirages and F7s)

. .
Plaaf will be indicting only j10
And j11,flankers for now.

Five Years time they will induct fifth gen fighters or j20/j30...

Jf17 is purely an export plane and will not offer significant impact against the highly modern fleets of Japan Taiwan or us navy carrier fleets in a real. War.

I see a plaaf moving from 3000 obselte planes to less than 1500 j10 flankers and j20/30.fifth gen next decade or so.

Jf17 offers nothing new

JF-17s makes sense for China only in terms of economics, it can do all the same things as the J-10 but with less endurance and payload. The shear number of older aircraft which need replacing are huge, by inducting JF-17s they can save some funds which they can direct towards other projects. Also even if China goes for JF-17s I dont think they will go for an updated model as that will enter the J-10 domain, they will go for basic specs with indigenous engine to keep costs down.
They will go for BLOCK II but not further

.
Won't believe it unless I see it, there is little to no point in China inducting the JF-17, as it is a redundant capability for the PLAAF.

If I am the Chairman of China I will induct JF17 in year 2018-2020.
Strategy is more important than jets.

If I am the Chairman, I will equip 80 JF17s and use them in the direction east sea. JF17 is a cheep and good enough to dog fight F35 from Japan. You know how much costs a F35, and how much costs a JF17. Using JF17 to patrol the east sea, to consume a 200 mil. dollar F35 is a real bargain. For us JF17 has a consumable price. Making the east sea as a huge training school, and japanese are our coach.

The price of JF17 is the same to T50 trainer from Korea, but JF17 is a real fighter! Using JF17 as an advanced trainer is
luxury.

When we have enough JF17s, we can support at least one JF17 in japaness ADIZ 25 hours per day. Can japan support one F35 patrol in their ADIZ? For us JF17 has a consumable price. J-11, J-15, J-16 are all Flanker derivatives.

Hi,

One possibility is that china thinks that it is running out of time---there is a conflict looming in the distant horizon and china does not have enough aircraft in numbers---the assembly lines are possibly working at 100%----the only option left is JF17---a bvr capable aircraft with anti ship missiles---the 5th gen aircraft is many a years away to be operational in numbers.

Logistically the JF-17 isnt a drag. They can replace J-7, J-8 and A-5, thats three platforms quicker and cheaper with the JF-17. Plus the JF-17 includes the integrated supply chain and smart diagnostic tools systems that PAF had replicated after viewing western jets. The JF-17 brings a revolution in PAF maintenance as hundreds of onboard sensors can predict part failures and updates ground crew diagnostic software to make pre orders in supply chain to maximize aircraft availability along with western style longer intervals between extensive overhauls.

As far as I know, the Xian JH-7 will fulfill the anti-ship role with few modifications, I still dont see any need for for JF-17, however if it happens, then it will be a huge advantage for Pakistan as well cuz there might be a brighter chance further upgrades of JF-17 by the Chinese. Still its merely a Hypothetical situation, nothing else.

Pakistanis need to get out of applying the CHEAP LOGIC in their thinking

Yes Thunder is far cheaper to buy and maintain than PLAAF main fighters J10 & Flankers & in future J20

But cost is of no relevance to the PLAAF who enjoy the largest GDP and military budget bar USA in the planet.

PLAAF COULD potentially face five formidable air powers depending on nature of conflict

USA/USN = F22/F35/F18/F15
Russia = su35/su30/mig29/ PAK FA
Japan = F15/F16FSX
Taiwan = F16/MIRAGE2000-5
South Korea = F15/F16

Over a land sea & air surface of 5 times the size of indo Pak War Zone.

In this scenario the JF17 would be irrelevant in terms of payload range and capability..

YES.. for PAF its a great plane and GOD SEND but against that lot above a disaster option
