China to Discuss Key Issues with India, This December

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao said he would be visiting India this year in his opening remarks ahead of his meeting with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Friday. The prime minister responded by saying that he was "extremely delighted" to hear about it.

The 30-minute meeting, also attended by National Security Advisor Shiv Shankar Menon, Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma and Secretary-East Lata Reddy as well as four cabinet ministers from the Chinese side, saw Wen talking of the strong sense of history which binds the two countries.

Wen told the prime minister that he had said on many occasions that there was enough space for China and India to grow. "To that I add that there is enough space in the world for India and China to have cooperation."

On this 60th year of the anniversary of India-China diplomatic relations, he said: ""I will be visiting India this year."

The prime minister responded by saying the two had met on 10 occasions in the last six years.

He said he was "extremely delighted" to hear that Wen would be coming. He also said there would be for consensus on key issues to lay the foundation for a very successful visit.

Why not? Care to elaborate?

I dont think India is all that important in this century.(average)

Its China and USA.

India, maybe in the next century or later this century.

*********EDIT**********

Just my opinion... I can be totally wrong.

I think China and India will be the real stories of this century.

America will probably retain a GDP advantage for the next decade or two, however in terms of GROWTH I think China and India are the ones to watch. No doubt about it.

I am so happy to finally hear some positive news from China.....many ppl want to see CHina rise....its a symbol not only for Asia but the world. It does not make sense to fight amongst each other. Both nations have suffered hard due to foreign aggression. its time to show the world and teach the world how we have co-existed for ages. Just imagine if we put our greatest assets together, it could produce some of the best innovations seen by mankind. We can finally do something mind boggling for mankind. Even focus on cooperation on moon mining or even solar energy from space. The possibilities are endless. I am very happy that Wen has incredible foresight and is open minded!
