"BEIJING, DEC 26 (APP): China will continue to develop bilateral strategic cooperative partnership with Pakistan, said Spokesman Chinese Foreign Minister Monday. No matter how the international situation changes, this policy will not be shaken, said spokesman Hong Lei.
The State Councillor Dai Bingguo had visited Pakistan as special representative of President Hu Jintao and attended closing ceremony of 60th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries and the Year of Friendship, he said.
He said that Dai Bingguo met President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani, Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar and Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani.
The two sides reviewed the development of the establishments of diplomatic ties established 60 years ago and also discussed future development of bilateral relations, Hong said.
He said that China firmly supports Pakistan to safeguard national sovereignty, security, independence and territorial integrity.
He further said that China supports Pakistan to maintain stability in the country and efforts to develop economy and improve peoples livelihood.
Hong said China believes Pakistans wisdom and ability to properly handle the relations with the countries concerned to safeguard their own interests.
Pakistani leaders at these meetings informed that the changing domestic and international situation in 60 years, the friendship rooted in the hearts of the people of Pakistan and China remained intact.
China is Pakistans all-weather friend and contributed for many years for national development of Pakistan and provided substantial economic assistance.
He also quoted comments of Pakistani leadership that friendship with China is the cornerstone of Pakistans foreign policy and said, Pakistan assured to continue to support Chinas core interests.
China, he said is willing to make joint efforts with Pakistan to promote bilateral traditional friendship, deepen mutually beneficial and pragmatic cooperation, strengthen cooperation in international and regional issues and further promote the bilateral comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership."
