ISLAMABAD, Apr 8 (APP): China snubbed India on its bid to become sixth member of United Nations Security Council as Indian Foreign Minister S M Krishna sought China support for the same during his recent four day official visit to China. Political analysists said here Thursday. The joint press conference by the two respective foreign ministers and the communique also failed to find a mention of much sought after Chinas support with respect to permanent seat in the UN Security Council.
Being cognizance of Indias pitching against Beijing by the United States for spearheading Asia, its Armed Forces activities on the border areas with China, its tacit support to Dalai Lama on his Arunachal Pradesh visit and its track record of declare and undeclared nuclear reactors radioactive leaks, China signaled its disinterest on the issue and instead said that the two countries communicated and worked together well on major issues, including combating the effects of financial crises and climate change.
Albeit, the Indian foreign secretary Nirupama Rao who had accompanied the foreign minister on the trip told reporters during a press conference in Beijing that the trip had gone well and that a long term strategic views was required of this relationship.
