And I repeat my question how does shutting off help diplomacy?

China was shut off from the world for a good part of the 19th century....What did it achieve except making mass production of cheap things? Which was more possible due to its enormous population and supply of natural products then anything!

If shutting down was the way, I doubt Britain could have gotten HK and a good portion of the world for so long!

Do you know why China doesn't have diplomatic ties with those who have them with Taiwan? Cause territorial intergrity is the bottom line for the Chinese foregin policy, there's no room for disscussion on this issue, China never allows others to interfere her internal affairs.
