China Shows Democracy Is Not Key for Growth, EU Commissioner Says

Xi Jinping would never become China's leader if China were democratic country. He is overall a silent, low profile guy. Not an election material. But obviously he did well in his position.

Thats the downside of democracy; elections could end up becoming a show without substance.

The positive is that everyone FEEL their opinion counts.

By ideology i mean the belief that a certain set of governing ideas is somehow superior and always will be superior.
That is NOT what 'ideology' mean.

"a system of ideas and ideals, especially one which forms the basis of economic or political theory and policy."

China dosent really have a ideology since Deng Ciaoping. Socialism is only a masquerade. China simply is a meritocratic and technocratic governance system. IMO China is ruled more like a private enterprise than a ideological state like the Soviet or even USA.
That is fine. So in your opinion, the CCP's statement that China is a socialist country is a farce.

How to make institutions more effective? The system has to be changed so that people with scientific competence, and not politicians make the descisions. I have experiences many government etats that are filled with leaders who are clever as*kissers and good at climbing ladders. Very few of them actually had any knowledge of the field they are set to lead.
It makes competent people run away from government institutions.
So you advocate for a technocracy.

The bottom line is this...

Whatever is believed by anyone, there will ALWAYS be clashes of ideologies. China learned the hard way that socialism does not work but cannot abandon socialism because, like it or not, every country must have an ideological facade, even North Korea used 'Democratic' in its name, so socialism is China's ideological facade. And now, we resume the Cold War.

Socialism is not just superficial slogan for China. All banks and strategic industries are still controlled by government in China. The richest people in China like Jack Ma have zero influence in China political system( An obvious symbol that China's politics is much healthier than USA and most countries). China carried out getting rid of poverty policy among all citizens. All prove that China is socialism country.

There was no country be prospers by so-called western democracy, no a single sucessful case.

India's GDP is a myth for me. When China's GDP reached 0.3 trillion US dollars in 2007 same as today's India GDP, made-in-China were already everywhere. Chinese people already enjoyed good living standard. One year later China held the Olympic Games in Beijing.

Whereas today we barely see any India product outside India. Millions of Indian children are suffering malnutrition. Most of its population are still in extreme poverty. It's very werid considering the two countries have same scale population.

Not the same as that 3 trillion US dollars includes 15 years of inflation.

China’s economy in 2007 was twice the size of India with 15% less population.

Sorry, tell that to Mr. Wergeland in post 54. He seems to understand your country better than you do. :enjoy:
Lol..another white try to tell Chinese, he knows Chinese history than Chinese themselves.

There is no contradiction gamb. China is not communist but socialist, to be precise. Norway , Scandinavia and much of western Europe has been socialistic since second world war. You can call it social democratic. In fact theChinese system is a mixed economy (just like scandinavia) where government has major stakes in large public coorperations and so on. The difference lies in One party VS multiparty voting system
