Sounds like China is going to permanatly occupy the reef by learning the trick from the Philippines when you stranded your naval ship then occupied Second Thomas Shoal.

The whole group is claimed by China, Taiwan, and Vietnam, and parts are claimed by Malaysia and the Philippines. . The ship has been there since May 9.

The Vietnamese did the same trick.

You people obviously don't know the first thing about navigation. Running aground is a constant fear in any operation on water, naval or otherwise. Irregardless of US, China, Russia or India. It's the most common oceanfaring hazard. Go sail more in uncharted regions and you'll have an idea.

The defence ministry says a Chinese naval frigate has run aground while patrolling disputed waters in the South China Sea. A statement posted on the ministry's website says the ship was on "routine patrol" when it became stranded near Half Moon Shoal in the Spratly Islands. The shoal is off the Philippine island of Palawan. The statement said no one was injured or killed in the accident and the navy was organising a rescue.
The Philippines said it was trying to confirm the reports and would offer assistance to any vessel in distress. "We have to find out why that ship was there, why it ran aground, whether it was an accident or whatever," Defence Secretary Voltaire Gazmin told reporters. "If we have to offer assistance to help them get out of that place, we will assist them," he added.

Yes so embarrassing, because something like this NEVER happens. Guess what now? China will now need to send a 'rescue team' to the area, which is inside what the Philippines claim as its territory. The rescue team may be escorted by a fleet of warships because you never know what will happen in enemy waters.


If the rescue is successful, perhaps we will have another ship get stuck near Manila.
