If and WHEN a conflict breaks out, there won't be enough time for these larger deployments of AC's etc. I believe both sides will take out as much Naval power as possible within the first couple of days of the conflict. I would even dare to say that 75% carrier's might not even get to their ordered place within a certain geography. The next war will be fought with "carrier / ship killer missiles", "precision strikes" and Hypersonic weapons. Whatever would be left after weak 1, would then be used in the "war of attrition". If the West dominates in the SCS within a week, it will end up making China the next Russia! If China is able to take out a few CBG's (aircraft carriers specifically), as well as destroying Taiwan and Japan's majority air defense and navy, the equation dramatically changes. But then it would need to also watch what India would do as India won't side with the West but will definitely use the opportunity as it's an opportunist nation.

Aircraft carrier group is never meant to fight against major power in modern naval warfare. Its a tool to serve political power projection. Or fight proxy war across the continent, For example, if PLAN want to back its allied in South America continent of an orange revolution but USN wouldn't openly since China is invited by the country to quench the revolt. Just like Russia lacking any meaningful naval power projection across the ocean is not suitable for its status as major power.

A major naval warfare in 21th century will be different from WWII which both carrier groups try to destroy each other in open sea or ocean. That is a tactics more than 70 years ago.

HGV or ASBM will do the job of decimate each other naval warships between a war of USN and PLAN.

Precisely, Chinese warship and planes are all within international water. They are working within international rules set by the western power. Unless these white man come out with another set for non whites..
