China will not sell the Type 055 until another class supercedes it. Maybe not even then. It is a strategic level system.

You're right, the 346B dual band on 055 serves as forward-based radar in national missile defence network, is strategic level asset, they are not compatible with other countries' networks unless heavily customized.

Yep all our older DDGs (inducted before 052D) are getting modernized these years including the four Sovs aka 956/956E, which by now two are done. I think these modernized or MLU'ed destroyers may take their turn in joining naval drills with Russian & Iranian navy.

The first Sovremenny till now is about 45 years. 15 years from now, it will be 60 years old. Now hardly any Sovremenny does not have black smoke. The Russian navy suffer the worst decay among all branch of service.

Meanwhile Iran has only a few suicide gunboats. This is enough to sink anyone trepassing Hormuz. Not too good for protecting her oil tankers worldwide.

China also believes that a few destroyers/frigates that equipped with the hypersonic missiles like Zircon can easily obliterate a supercarrier battlegroup.
