What's new

China produces 15 times the number of STEM graduates than the US. How does the US keep its edge in science and technology?

The USA does not lead innovation anymore, but what the USA has "was" first mover advantage, and that has led to the USA hold most of the intellectual property, and patents. That means, it can throtte competition ( look at what it did to Huwaei by denying it access to technology derived from its patents and intellectual property ). Given how technology is progressive, this is a real problem for China.

Something new, and revolutionary, then China has a chance, eg Quantum computing, but anything that exists already has patents and commerical agreements which can be used to restrict the growth of competitors.

Silicon Valley owns a lot of patents!!!!!

Sadly we have the same BS in the UK now. Social media has led to the mental degradation of younger people.
Every generation the older generation says the new one is ruined you can go back to ancient Greek and find philosophers saying the same stuff

USA is a professional Nobel prized mafia that keeps on top by corrupting, bribing, stealing yes they do, propaganda, and also suppressing true competition by using national security to restrict other competitors. crash that dollar, level the playing field, then you will see the true results.

The sad part is that few large countries do better than the US. We don't get the luxury of choosing the best. We at most get a chance to choose the least rotten.

It is not as if Americans 'invented' capitalism, but like I said, we do not need your brightest but WANT your most entrepreneurial spirit. The hard worker will always outproduce the harder thinker. Think about that for a moment.
