This's a good pic thread about PLAN 054A FFG (including 2x 054 class) posted by other guy in Chinese military forum. I transfer it to PDF and add some PLAN's 054A FFG pics as well.

I made a mistake, the correct number is 2x 054 FFGs + 20x 054A FFGs. Currently PLAN has 2x 054 and 16x 054A FFGs, rest 4x 054A FFGs r running sea trial or building in the shipyard.

I cant claim that this info is 100% accurate, but it is the best we know as of this time.

Currently 16 054A's are in service. The last one to enter service was No 16 'Sanya' on the 31st December 2013.

The 17th, 18th and 19th vessels have been launched and are fitting out.

The 20th vessel is still in the build stage prior to launching.

The names of the last 4 vessels are:-

17th = not known at present
18th = Huangshi
19th = Sanmenxia
20th = Huanggang

U r right, i had request Mod to help me. There'r 2x 054 + 20x 054A FFGs, total 22x 054/054A FFGs, i have corrected it in above posts. Thank you very much !

054A costs PLAN like 100 million more than a export F-22p, meaning an export 054A would cost even more than that. the question really becomes, how badly does pakistan need the additional size and air defence capabilities VS ship numbers

Very badly, that is why it is not about numbers but capabilities and slowly build the numbers..."Unless" PN/China has decided to modernized F-22P and upgrade its air defence capabilities along with up coming orders.

but the problem is, one very good and expensive ship might not be useful compared to 3-4 half decent ships. there is value is numbers. in pakistan's case, i dont think air defence ships are vital right now, in any war scenario i dont envision those ships going very far from shore, thus they will have the protection of land aircraft and their own short range missiles. should pakistan decide that fleet air defence is critical for the navy it may be better to get a version of the f-22p that has some small number of vls(like you said), maybe 24 cells rather than the much more expensive and bigger 054A or its successor. this way both the numbers and the critical capability can be had. of course the best solution is to grow the economy and not have to worry about value vs capability all the time.

You are right though but the I'm afraid the economy is not growing but shirking due to corrupt governments so we don't expect until 2023 anything good from the economy. But it still make sense A couple of 054A FFGs are a better deal than 4F-22Ps with the same cost like I said increase the numbers slowly which would be a better strategy...
